Ed and I became school principals in The Pas the same year, and I quickly learned that he was an important support as we faced challenging growth in the Kelsey School Division. My connection with him continued no matter where he went and during many summer schools at the University of Manitoba. He, Barb, Carol and I enjoyed many debates about education issues as we worked on our Master Degrees. These aided the formation of our strong complementary beliefs about education. When I first became a high school principal, I was happy to be able to request and receive thoughtful advice from Ed. I was fortunate to travel with him once to Cuba and saw firsthand his friendly interaction with the Cuban people. He is not forgotten. - Posted by: Vaughn Wadelius (friend and colleague) on: Mar 22, 2025

Ed was an amazing guy who loved his family, friends and travel. We cherish our memories of vacationing with Ed and Carol in Cuba. Ed made every trip special as he scouted out the best day trips and the bars serving the finest specialty coffee. Ed loved the Cuban people who responded with extraordinary kindness. We also cherish the memories of Ed and Carol‘s annual Ukrainian Christmas feast with endless pirogies and poppyseed cake. Ed was an engaging conversationalist and had informed opinions on many subjects, especially politics. He had incredible stories about growing up in the Interlake. From his humble beginnings Ed excelled as a teacher and administrator obtaining a PhD in education at the University of Nebraska. Our deepest condolences to Carol, Ethan, Lori and his entire extended family. Dave Boldt and Irene Kocsis - Posted by: Dave Boldt (Friend) on: Jun 18, 2022

I recognized his kind face right away, though it has been 40 yrs since I last saw Mr. Husack at Oak Park High School. He was so charismatic, even if I was in trouble he would make a silly joke to get me laughing. Such a kind soul. My deepest condolences to all his family and friends. - Posted by: leah giroux (student) on: Aug 09, 2020
