MARGARET YACKEL

Peacefully, Margaret Yackel passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on August 7, 2020 at the age of 86.
She was predeceased by her husband Albert, and her dearest friend Walter Bezpalko. Her memory will be cherished by her only son Richard (fiancé Fran), brothers, George (Laurette) and Albert (Della), sisters, Doreen (George) and Eileen, many nieces and nephews, cousins, all her friends from the Rockwood ANAVETS #303, her coffee friends at A&W and her new friends at Amber Meadow, where she lived since January.
Margaret was famous for her irreverent sense of humour, for treating all her many friends like family, and for her skills on the dance floor, right up to New Year's Eve 2020. Mom was crazy about her poodles and anyone else's pet for that matter. She was a very hard worker at every job she took on: waitress, grocery store cashier, retail and cash office clerk, and insurance agent.
Although Congestive Heart Failure was the final victor and she faced her demise with courage, her health and spirit were never the same after Walter passed away in October.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Winnipeg Humane Society.

  • Margaret Yackel dancing, laughing, with a perpetual smile, and kind words for everyone, is one of my favorite memories. Margaret was able to effortlessly make everyone else have a good time. She was a kindhearted and generous person. As a recipient of her kindness and generosity, I will miss her greatly. Rick, please know that during this dark time, you are not alone, and we all grieve with you. My deepest condolences. Ken and Regine Kublanski. - Posted by: Ken Kublanski (Friend ) on: Aug 26, 2020

  • Condolences to the family. I have told Albert and Margaret many times while dancing at Rockwood that how I wished they were my mom and dad. I have seen them full of life and joy while dancing, my wife and I saw their love for each other. Margaret would always wave at us even though they were two tables and a dance floor apart from us. To you Albert and Margaret, continue dancing on your way up to Heaven. - Posted by: Cesar de la Cruz (Dancing Friend) on: Aug 25, 2020

  • Margaret was a beautiful soul. She and her son Rick spent every Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving with our family for a few years. She was like our own Granny. We loved to hear her stories. We were very fond of Walter as well. We can see her now dancing up a storm. God Bless. The Pisker and Clarke Families. - Posted by: Kathy Pisker (Friend) on: Aug 24, 2020

  • Sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. She was a very nice lady who welcomed our wives to the Rockwood ANAF and made them feel at home on the dance floor when we played there. She always had a big smile and kind words to say. - Posted by: John Bzovey...Band RAVIN (Friend’s mother) on: Aug 24, 2020
