ROSE IDA NAGY
(nee KISH)
Rose was born November 11, 1919 on the family farm near Willowbrook, SK to her parents, Joseph Jr. and Vera (Switzer) Kish. She attended LookOut School and she later worked in Windsor, ON and Yorkton, SK before marrying John Nagy in Yorkton on June 15, 1942. They resided on John's farm in the RM of Rockdell, SK. Rose and John had three children, Allan, Dennis and Emily. In 1957 they left the farm and moved to Yorkton and in 1961 moved to Winnipeg, MB.
Rose excelled at all types of cooking and baking and enjoyed hosting family and friends. She strived to make everything look just right and taste delicious. Rose also sewed her dresses and our clothing when we were young. She crocheted doilies and afghans and spent many hours quilting. Rose and John enjoyed gardening, square dancing and bowling together, and Rose also enjoyed her time singing with the church choir at St. Edward's Church. They made many trips to visit family in Saskatchewan and BC.
After John retired, they enjoyed travelling in Canada, the US, Australia and New Zealand. Two years after John's death, Rose, at the age of 80, went on a tour of Europe with her sister Olga. They saw many different countries and tried many different foods.
We will all miss Rose greatly. We each have so many wonderful memories of her. Rose always had an apple pie ready in her freezer. She prepared the holiday turkeys and fixings right until she was 91. She had a great memory for all of her life events and enjoyed sharing them with the new friends she made while living in the Kiwanis Complex. In 2019, Rose celebrated her 100th birthday with family and loved ones from across the country.
Rose is survived by her son Allan and Sadie (Harrison) Nagy, daughter Emily and Nestor Frykas, daughter-in-law Sandra (Saunders) Nagy, as well as sisters, Olga Dramnitzki and Violet Churko and brother Harold and Darcienne Kish. Rose is also survived by her grandchildren, Kevin Nagy, Lynn (Jim) Nauss, Michelle Whittle, Nicole (Nick) Mazur, Owen (Erin) Nagy, Andrea (Scott) Carr, Derek (Nicole) Frykas, Adam Saunders, Lara (Gregory) Nikitas as well as 14 great-grandchildren.
Rose was predeceased by her parents, her husband John, her son Dennis, her sisters, Elizabeth and Adeline and brothers, Joseph and William.
Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, there will be a private family service for Rose along with an interment of her son Dennis.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Rose may be made to Diabetes Canada Winnipeg, 401-1 Wesley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4C6.
