THELMA SCHWEEN
(nee ROBINSON)
July 2, 1923 August 30, 2020
Thelma was born in Winnipeg, on July 2, 1923 to Mary and Harry Robinson. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Marjorie, as a teenager. Thelma was married to Edward Schween for 63 years before his passing in 2012. Thelma also lost her only child Rick in December of 2010. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Giselle; grandson Matthew (Stephanie) and granddaughter Chelsea (Jay) who will miss her dearly. Thelma is also survived by three brothers, Cecil (Betty), Clifford, and Gordon (Elaine); as well as many nieces and nephews.
Thelma was a resident of St. Norbert Nursing Home for the past two years. She was treated with much respect and love from the caring staff with her only occasional complaint, being the food. She loved and missed her A&W onion rings, fish and chips, McDonalds burgers and especially her Tim Horton's coffee.
No one visited without bringing a treat of some sort! Thelma loved sports of any kind and even after going blind, would listen to the Jets games on her radio, often joined by the staff.
In January of this year, Thelma was able to join her three brothers in a very special celebration of Cecil's 100th birthday. Cliff (99) and Gordon (88) joined Thelma in the celebration, along with many family and friends. It was a day to remember for us all.
Thelma's ashes will join Ed's and Ricks along the shoreline of her much-loved Long Pine Lake Camp at Ingolf, Ontario, where the original log cabin built in early 1930s by her brothers still stands and is being lovingly maintained.
There will be no service as per Thelma's wishes. The family would like to thank the compassionate and caring hands at the St. Norbert Nursing Home and also for the loving visits by Thelma's niece, Barbara.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made in Thelma's memory to the Ingolf Campers Association, Box 40, Ingolf, Ontario P0Y 1A0
