VALERIE JUNE RAMSAY
March 4, 1956 - June 22, 2020
Valerie was born on March 4, 1956, and grew up in East Elmwood and attended Sir Sam Steele School and Elmwood High School. She resided in Elmwood for most of her life. Before her retirement Val worked at Safeway, Club Regent Casino and IG Field.
Valerie was a very friendly person, with a cheerful demeanour and a great sense of humour which was punctuated by her infectious giggle. She was a loyal and loving friend, possessed a compassionate heart and had a genuine concern for others, especially those who were enduring hardship or adversity in their lives. Her willingness to extend a helping hand to assist others (especially the elderly) was remarkable. When she became aware that there was a need, she would undertake any task that would help to make their lives easier. Her many gifts of caregiving did not go unnoticed and were greatly appreciated.
Val appreciated and valued the time she spent with her family, friends and neighbours, playing cards and board games, going to the casino, meeting for coffee, sharing a meal or watching sports on TV. She loved animals, enjoyed travelling and taking car and bus trips. She was very proud of her Scottish heritage and the trip she made to Scotland was a memorable highlight for her.
Val loved to share stories and humourous anecdotes, which she recounted with an animated and theatrical flair. She was strong-willed, tenacious and feisty. Val endeared herself to many through the warmth of her hugs, loving kindness and generous nature.
Valerie was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Janet Ramsay, and is survived by her family and friends. She will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered.
Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 9 at 3:30 p.m. Due to gathering restrictions please R.S.V.P to Chapel Lawn between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
"It's been a long day without you, my friend,
And I'll tell you all about it
when I see you again.
We've come a long way from where we began,
Oh, I'll tell you all about it
when I see you again." - Charlie Puth
