EARL EVERETT MCLAUGHLIN
Earl was born in Pierson, Manitoba on February 25, 1927, and later moved to Roland where he and his siblings, Joan and Glen, shared many fond memories. Earl followed in his father's footsteps and began a career with The Royal Bank of Canada at age 18 which would take him to many of Manitoba's small communities, Winnipeg and Northern British Columbia. In 1962 he transferred with the bank to New York's head office and resided in Staten Island. It was there he enjoyed the best of times with many lifelong friends and he met his Latin beauty Ileana. Earl and Ileana married in 1968 and had two children whom they adored and supported in all their interests. In 1982, Earl retired from The Royal Bank and the family relocated to Winnipeg, Manitoba where they enjoyed a quiet life on Moray Street raising their children. Shortly after, he came out of retirement and took a position as a machine operator with Industrial Rubber Supply. At age 71 he again retired and he and Ileana began escaping the cold Winnipeg winters in Seminole, Florida to be close to their dearest friend Irene.
Earl enjoyed many hobbies over the years including playing horse shoes, hockey, skiing, fishing, curling and golf. His love for adventure would lead him to begin logging flight hours for his pilot's license in British Columbia, share a boat with his friends in New York and take numerous road trips throughout Canada and the United States with friends and family.
Earl is survived by his son Robert and daughter Lisa, along with his niece Debbie and nephews, Pat, Jeff, Roy, Ben and Todd.
He will be laid to rest along with his wife Ileana at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Due to COVID restrictions a private service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
