EMILIEN ANDRE JOSEPH LEPAGE
September 13, 1927 October 11, 2020
He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, cousin, uncle and friend. He was a hardworking man, a butcher by trade, Mom's equal partner in all things domestic, be it cooking, laundry, housework or helping in the garden, changing diapers, bath time, helping with homework, playing board games or baseball, bowling or dancing, bike riding or sledding, or teaching us how to drive. Dad was all-in for all of it. He was there for church on Sundays and for bedtime prayers. He taught by example and occasionally we learned a lesson from a smack on the bottom or a mouthwash with soap if we swore. He was a kind and gentle man who loved to read and do crossword puzzles. He only had a grade nine education but he soaked up as much information as he could by watching documentaries and nature shows on television, as well as reading the encyclopedia. Dad was a gentle soul, smiling almost all of the time and he had a great sense of humour, unless he was losing at a card game. No sir! He did not like to lose at cards!
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Therese (nee Richard); his children, Irene Anderson, Bob Lepage (Lucille), Paulette Morrison, Andre Lepage, Lorraine Taillefer, Ed Lepage, Michelle McDuff (Randy), Dianne Lepage (Jo Rademaker). Pépère also leaves 24 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, a brother John Lepage and sister Yvonne Eastoe; sisters-in-law, Perry Haarsma and Jo-Anne Martin (Gary); as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dad was predeceased by his parents, Emile Lepage and Rose (nee Gilliard); siblings, George, Helen, Madeleine, Jeannette, Paul, Lilliane, Rosemarie and Angeline. He was also predeceased by his in-laws, François Richard and Theresa (nee Roy); brothers-in-law, Frank and Ray Richard; sisters-in-law, Yvette, Yvonne and Mary-Lou. Dad's sons-in-law, Jack Anderson, Ray Morrison and Jâcques Taillefer and grandson Anthony Lepage will also be waiting to greet him with open arms when he arrives at the gates of Heaven.
Cremation has taken place and due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no service at this time.
We wish to thank all of the healthcare workers who cared for Dad at home. Special thanks go out to friends, Lucy, Phyllis and Rita for all those extra things you did for Dad and the rest of the family. There will be a special place in Heaven for you.
If you wish, a donation may be made to The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
Adieu Papa! Reposez en paix!
