IRENE MARY KAMINESKI
(nee CRANCH)
April 2, 1931 - October 27, 2020

Irene passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at Deer Lodge Centre, with the support and comfort of her family. Irene was 89 years old.
Left to remember and celebrate her life are her daughter, Carol; son-in-law, Don; her granddaughters, Michelle (Nick) and Christine (Jocke); her great-grandsons Tanner, Zachary and Leo; her brothers, John and Gordon; and close family friend, Bonnie. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter; daughter, Karen; and brothers, Arthur and Gerald.
Irene was born in Colonsay, Saskatchewan and later moved to Saskatoon, then Regina, and finally to Winnipeg with her husband Walter, and two daughters, Carol and Karen. She spent many summers at Waskesiu, Saskatchewan and Ingolf, Ontario, enjoying the lake life with family and friends. Irene was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and enjoyed nothing more than watching her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids at concerts, sporting events and activities that are too numerous to mention. She was also an active member at the Deer Lodge Curling Club, Assiniboine Golf Club, and Saint Andrews Anglican Church. Anyone who knew Irene will remember her for her love of travel, her ability to carry a conversation, and of course, her impeccable sense of style. She loved her social outings, playing bridge and reading. She was a talented seamstress and baker, well known to many for her famous "Irene's Buns". Irene spent her last years at the Westhaven, making many friends with the residents and staff.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses, doctors and support staff at both Grace Hospital and Dear Lodge Centre who went out of their way to take care of Irene.
Cremation has taken place, and no service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Hospital Foundation, Deer Lodge Centre, or charity of choice.

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • Irene was the most amazing person I ever met . I had the privilege to serve her as one of my most loyal customers at the cosmetic department at Shoppers Drug mart. I truly enjoyed the conservations we had when she would come in to do her shopping.I will miss her dearly. God Bless You. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends Nancy Porath - Posted by: Nancy Porath (Friend ) on: Feb 12, 2021

  • Carol, both of us are sorry to hear about your mom's passing. I enjoyed the many years of being Irene's hairdresser until she moved into the Westhaven. She always had a story to tell and was always on the go!! Our condolences , James and Sandy - Posted by: Sandy Silva (Friend ) on: Nov 17, 2020

  • My condolences Carol to you and your family at this sad time. I will always remember our conversations while doing her pedicures, we covered family, golf, travel and many other subjects. More often than not she would have all ingredients set out on the counter ready to make after I left and I too had the honour of tasting those yummy buns. She is now at peace. Sending hugs - Posted by: Carole Williams (Friend) on: Nov 03, 2020

  • Carol So sorry to read about your mom. She was always such a thoughtful lady. Our times as a “ family” curling team are a fond memory. As an aside I still have the ceramic fridge otter that she made as a Christmas exchange gift and see it daily . Sincerely Ernie & Myrna - Posted by: Ernie & Myrna Mol (Friends) on: Nov 01, 2020

  • Carol & Bonnie... On behalf of mom and I, I want to offer our sincerest condolences as you are experiencing this profound loss. Irene and mom were very close (as actually, the 4 of our parents were), and I know they both looked forward to catching up with each other over the years. When mom could travel, it was always important to her to make sure she either saw or talked to your mom. I too enjoyed my conversations with your mom over the years, and loved to hear all about her family. It does make me think of Wally and George and Irene and Elaine and all the fun they had over the years, no matter what the season! What a wonderful foursome they made! Just know we will be thinking of you and yours during this difficult time, and bless you with strength and peace as you go forward. Yours; Susan Duff (Collins) - Posted by: Susan Duff (Collins) (Family friend) on: Oct 31, 2020
