MARGARET CHAGNON
(nee HOURIE)
April 18, 1934 – October 24, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret (Maggie) Chagnon, formerly of Great Falls, Manitoba. Margaret passed away peacefully, on October 24, 2020, at the Grace Hospital.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Paul, Cecile (Randy) Park, Leona, Roger, and Kelly (Mary ann), brother, Roy (Marilyn) Hourie, sister, Gertrude (Doug) Klatt, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Gerard (Jerry), sons, Gerry (J.R.) and Ron, daughter-in-law, Linda, grandchildren, Justin Bruneau and Dustin Chagnon, parents, Bill and Daisy Hourie, brothers, Andrew, John and Martin Hourie; sisters, Dorothy Sinclair, Gladys Kitchen, and Mary Dennett, stepbrother, George Hourie, and stepsister, Florence Viznaugh.
Mom was born and raised in Stoney Point, Manitoba. In the early 50s she met the love of her life, Jerry, at the construction site of the Foundation Building, at the powerhouse in Powerview, Manitoba, where she worked in the cafeteria. After a short courtship, they made their life long home on Poplar Avenue in Great Falls, where they raised all seven children.
Mom had a very kind heart and was devoted to her husband and children. She is known for her beautiful knitting; creating socks, blankets, and mitts for all her children and grandchildren, and at times, donating to the local hospitals. Mom's door was always open to family and friends. Every visitor was greeted with a kind smile, laughter and a good meal. In recent years, Maggie and Jerry could be seen every month enjoying the gospel music at the Pioneer Club in Lac du Bonnet.
Due to the current health restrictions, a celebration of her life will take place in May or June 2021.
A special thank you to the staff at the Grace Hospital and the Fred Douglas Lodge for their kind and dedicated care. If friends so desire, contributions may be made to the Recreation Program at Fred Douglas Lodge, 1275 Burrows Ave, Winnipeg, or to the Pioneer Seniors Club, 32 Park Ave, Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba.

We will miss you Mom.
