I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Karin and family on their loss. I practiced law with Herb for many years. He was a good and decent man and a pleasure to have as a partner in our firm. He gave back to our community in many ways and demonstrated that spirit of generosity in his daily life as a colleague and a friend. He will be missed by so many. - Posted by: Douglas Finkbeiner (friend) on: Nov 11, 2020

Herb was more than a great lawyer who thoroughly enjoyed sitting down at lunch to discuss some esoteric point of law with his colleagues. He was also a proud husband ,father and grandfather. What I remember most is how he enjoyed a good meal especially a good piece of cheese cake. Even years after my marriage he still remembered the details of the sweets table at my wedding and how much he enjoyed it. - Posted by: Ralph Neuman (Friend and former partner) on: Nov 07, 2020

I worked with Herb on the trains during the 60s. Summer job. We went to Expo 67 together in Herb's car. Great trip and some interesting stories therein which Herb may have recounted. Lost touch after that. Condolences to his family. Gone too soon. - Posted by: Ernest babynec (old friend ) on: Nov 07, 2020

Herb and I both grew up in North Kildonan, attended Tanta Anna's "Kindergarten" , Lord Kitchener, Princess Margaret and then MBCI. He was a good friend, growing up we played scrub baseball, hockey and a lot of Ping Pong together. In the summer of 1957 we worked at a market garden on Henderson Highway located what now is across from the Norvilla Hotel on Henderson Highway. Our friendship continued in High School. We lost touch after that. I remember Herb being very passionate about our 50th Class Reunion where we were able to connect again and then at our 55th when some of us drove out to Steinbach and had breakfast at the Smittys. Herb has been set free and is now enjoying the bounties of Heaven. Karen please accept our deepest condolences on your loss..."we grieve not like the rest of mankind, who have no hope" 1Thess 4:13 John Wiebe ( Vera ) - Posted by: John Wiebe (school friend) on: Nov 06, 2020

To Karin and the Suderman family Herb and I were classmates at MBCI and U of M. I remember Herb’s participation at our 50th class reunion in 2012. He will be sadly missed by all of us who knew him. My thoughts go out to you all in this very difficult time. Fred Rademaker - Posted by: Fred Rademaker (Friend) on: Nov 06, 2020

I was very sorry to hear the news of Herb's passing. My deepest condolences to Karin and all the family. I remember many great years together with Herb at Newman MacLean and later at Taylor McCaffrey. I recall with great pleasure our many hours of discussion and debate: sometimes from opposite perspectives, but more often heading in the same direction. Always well informed, always thoughtful, he made lawyering a better profession. Doug Steinburg - Posted by: Doug Steinburg (Formert law partner) on: Nov 06, 2020
