SUE JOYCE MORRISON
(nee SMITH)
Sue was predeceased by her parents, George and Gladys Smith; her brother Norman Smith; and her beloved grandson James David McIntosh. She is lovingly remembered by her four children, Charlie McIntosh (Bernadette), Debbie Pratt (Leonardo), Sandra M. Coghlan (Robert), and Andrew Morrison (Denise); seven grandchildren, Pamela, Tamara, Natalie, Cailey, Evan, Morgan, and Matthew; and three great-grandchildren, Megan, Abigail and Michael; loving brother Eugene Smith; and many extended family and friends.
Sue was born in Toronto, Ontario on January 28, 1937. She began her family in Toronto and then moved out west to Calgary. Then onto Winnipeg where she raised her children. Mom always had a soft spot for her hometown of Toronto and remained a "Torontonian" in her heart. Family was the focus for Mom; family get-togethers, birthday celebrations, and weddings were the "highlights" of her life. Mom was very strong in her Christian faith and it showed with the love and care she provided to her family and friends. Sue was a proud member of Saint James Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and was an active member in the LWML for many years and made a lot of special friends there. She went on a tour to Israel "The Holy Land," Egypt, Greece and Germany in 1983. It was an amazing trip! Mom loved travelling to Australia, Victoria, BC and Lake of the Woods to spend time with family.
Sue also enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, music and reading the Bible, Agatha Christie novels and the daily newspaper. Until she was unable to do so because of her macular degeneration. Mom faced many adversities in her life but handled it all with class and grace. She was very proud of her family's accomplishments and was always there with kind words of genuine praise.
Mom was much loved and will be truly missed.
A heartfelt thank you to our sister Sandi, for the extra care and loving attention she gave our mother throughout her life. That is something we all deeply appreciate. Thank you as well to the staff at The Westhaven and Grace Hospital for all their kindness and care of our mom.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memoriam to: Saint James Lutheran Church (Building Fund) 871 Cavalier Dr., Winnipeg, MB R2Y 1C7 or Canadian Lutheran World Relief 600-177 Lombard Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3B 0W5 or to a charity of your choice. Thank you.

Thank you Barbara and Uncle Gene for your kind words about my/our dear mother Sue. Yes she was a special lady in many ways and only now I can write something about her as it has been so heartbreaking to have lost her so suddenly. Mom was love and gave love freely to all that came into her life, both human and furry. I think she fully grasped the Bible passage, "Love one Another". She also came to understand that the sorrows and challenges in life are meant to help us grow, become more compassionate and forgiving towards each other. I will treasure our many long & interesting chats over the phone, our little adventures with our numerous furry friends in Bragg Creek, the haunted Castle tour at the Fairmount Banff Springs Hotel, (during Halloween) Alberta, having "High Tea" at the Empress Hotel in Victoria, visiting the beautiful Buchart Gardens in Victoria, B.C and living it up with the Aussies Down Under. I will miss her beautiful smile and shining blue eyes, her creative doodles in every letter I received and her telephone messages that she left starting with, "Hello Debbie, it's Mom". G'Day and see ya on the Frog and Toad Mom (translated, "see you later"). Rest in peace until we meet again, Love always, Debbie & Leo. - Posted by: Debbie Pratt (Daughter) on: Dec 12, 2020

I miss our Sunday phone calls already. I used to call Sue from my home in Puerto Vallarta each week to see how she was doing and to tell her about things I was doing as well. My thoughts of my sister are warm and her dedication to the church and her Christian values shine through like a rainbow after a summer rain. She was always there for me in my times of need and my love for her will always be renewed each time I see a rainbow or hear a song she liked or remember something she did or said over the years. bon voyage Sue "I love you" We always said that to each other before ending our chats. Love always from your Brother Gene - Posted by: Eugene (brother) on: Nov 07, 2020
