Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Sean and Lonny.
Gerald was born in Winnipeg on November 7, 1938 to parents, Frank and Bridget. On April 8, 1967 he married Heather Grimes and soon after had sons, Sean and Lonny. Gerald worked as a pressman at Investors Group and the University of Manitoba where he retired at the age of 55. He enjoyed his retired life travelling and socializing with friends and family. Gerald was a very gentle and generous spirit with a great sense of humour towards life, including during the duration of his stay at a Personal Care Home.
He will be dearly missed.
A private celebration of Gerald's life will be held for immediate family only due to Covid-19 restrictions.
The family would like to thank the staff at Convalescent Home of Winnipeg and Pembina Place for all the great care they provided for him over the past several months.

My most sincere condolences go out to Sean and Lonny in the loss of your dad. I have such special memories of the time my late husband and I spent with Heather and Gerry. We spent so many good times with both of them on holidays, special trips to the states for gambling events, dinners, pool parties, and so many other social events. They will remain in my heart forever. I will miss both of them very much! Sonja Yachison - Posted by: Sonja Yachison (Cousin to Heather) on: Nov 07, 2020

We had known Gerry and Heather for the past 16 years. And our fondest memories were at Gerry's 60th birthday party when they had a Marilyn Monroe impersonator and she sat on Gerry's lap and also all the forever young dances we went to . Jerry had such a personality you always knew what he thought and we loved him for that. We are so glad that god put jerry and heather in our lives we were so blessed to know them and their family. Love you guys - Posted by: Garth and Colleen Donaldson (Friends) on: Nov 07, 2020

I am so sorry for your loss Sean and Lonny. My family and I are saddened to hear of his passing. Uncle Jerry was a lively storyteller and a sweet Uncle. I will always remember his infectious laugh. He was so proud of his Irish heritage and always had a ready stock of jokes - I can hear his voice saying - “Did your hear the joke about the Irishman ...” followed by an elbow prod and roguish eye wink to let let you know he was kidding. He and Auntie Heather (may she also Rest In Peace - we lost her just last year) were so generous with their house and were wonderful hosts. Growing up my parents, myself and my sister spent some lovely afternoons in the backyard pool. And when I had my own family of three daughters Uncle Gerry and Auntie Heather were so generous to host us for Christmas Eve and had my parents (Gerry’s sister Sheila), my family, my sister Laura’s family (6 grand nieces and nephews in total)and my parents over for a lively celebration. My children still remember those celebrations and will cherish them for life. Rest In Peace in Uncle Gerry. Auntie Heather is waiting for you.
