LYLE AWREY BALDWIN
January 2, 1940 - November 5, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father and grandfather, Lyle Awrey Baldwin, on November 5, 2020, at the age of 80. Dad was born January 2, 1940, in Winnipeg, MB.
Lyle leaves to mourn his loving wife of 50 years, Bessie (Zimmerman), his children; Carey (Courtney), Jason (Lisa), Colleen (Pierre Saucier) and Wade; his grandchildren; Ethan, Rylen, Xander, Victoria, Kian and Xya. He is also survived by his sisters, Eileen, and Cheryl (Terry Barsalou), along with his brothers, Wayne (Margo) and Grant (Gloria), as well as numerous other family members.
He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Edward Robert.
Lyle and Bessie moved to the family farm in 1972, where he farmed for 33 years before retiring to St. Pierre in 2005, where he spent every morning at the Club Jolys. He spent most of his life growing up in Otterburn West.
Dad enjoyed numerous activities such as horseshoes, curling, hunting, fishing, baseball but most of all, he was always ready for a game of cards. Every Sunday growing up, you would find Dad and the kids at the kitchen table playing Oh Hell, 500, poker, Chase the Ace, Canasta or battling his eldest son at a game of Crokinole. Family was extremely important to Lyle; he rarely missed the opportunity to celebrate with his family and friends.
His pride and joy were watching his grandchildren grow. As babies, you could find him lying on the floor playing with them. He always tried his best to go watch the kids in their numerous activities to cheer them on, and spoil them rotten.
He will be remembered for his colourful language and his infectious laugh. HMMMM….
The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Kiani and the Palliative Care program.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
The family will host a memorial service at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I will always remember Lyle’s competitiveness and cheerful nature at the curling club. Being around Lyle was a guarantee of a good time as he had a rare gift of being able to cheer up a group. He was a fearless competitor but always fair and calm in nature. Sincerest condolences to the entire family. - Posted by: Omer Fontaine (Acquaintance ) on: Nov 14, 2020
