Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Sincere condolences to the Hagen family. I was so sad to hear of Shirley's passing. I first met Shirley at River West Park school as she was the night custodian. I was a teacher there and often worked nights in my classroom. We developed a good friendship and, even after I left that school, we stayed in touch by phone or visits at her home. We enjoyed going out to eat, going to concerts and gabbing for hours. I will miss her terribly as we always had a great time together. - Posted by: Annette de Rocquigny (friend) on: Aug 21, 2022

  • I’m Fred Kathleen Baker daughter. I’m so sorry to hear Shirley has passed away. I had talked to her just a few days after my son passed away We we’re in the Safeway. She always made me laugh because she always called me Frances. She had me mixed up with my sister. I remember growing up and she would be busy helping out Auntie Mert or always Auntie Dot. She had a beautiful smile or she would be laughing. I haven’t seen Daryl or Wendy , Penny since we we’re young. We used to be together playing a lot. Again I’m so sorry. God has another Angel. Please take care. - Posted by: Linda Evans (Cousin) on: Dec 27, 2020

  • I send to Shirley"s children my deepest condolences on the passing of your mom. I really enjoyed visiting with her a few years back. Such a Lady, with her ever beautiful smile and kind words. We had fun on my visits to her. She sure looked forward to my letters to her and if I were coming to Winnipeg and visit. She will forever be in my heart and memories. Blessings to all of you. - Posted by: Frances Baker (Cousin) on: Dec 27, 2020

  • So sorry to hear of the loss of your mom, she was a great lady!! - Posted by: Wayne & Geri Slobodian (old neighbour) on: Nov 15, 2020

  • Our family lived across the street from the Hagens on Fairmont for many years. Shirley was one of the “neighborhood moms” whose door was always open and treated us kids like one of her own. I have many fond memories of Shirley, the funniest being Orville trying to teach Shirley to drive a standard transmission, while a bunch of us sat along the ditch laughing our heads off. Rest In Peace, Shirley. Love from the Nerbas family. Dawn, Nadine Black and family, Russ and family. - Posted by: Russ Nerbas (Friend) on: Nov 14, 2020

  • Although I have not seen Shirley in a good longtime, I have many fond memories of my time spent with her and Orville. My sincere condolences to Penny, Wendy, Darryl, Micheal and Greg...and the rest of her family. - Posted by: Janet Hagen (family friend) on: Nov 14, 2020

  • We have been neighbours to Shirley for 15 years. She was a sweetheart and always loved the visits. She will be dearly missed. Our pray and thoughts are with all the family. Madeleine & Harry - Posted by: Madeleine Beaudoin (Neighbour) on: Nov 14, 2020
