JOHANNA SOPHIA VAN SCHYNDEL
(nee VAN DE CAMP)
August 26, 1926 - November 8, 2020
Born in 1926 in Rotterdam, Holland, Johanna was the youngest of thirteen siblings born to Marinus and Sophia van de Camp. Johanna married Adrianus in December 1948, and together they immigrated to Canada in 1954 with two young children. They had 22 years of marriage and a total of six children prior to his untimely passing in 1971.
Aside from her husband, Johanna was predeceased by two daughters, Joan in 1951 and Jacqueline (Jim) McClements in 1999.
She leaves behind four children, Johanna (Murray) Abbott of Winnipeg, John (Bernice) of Calgary, Cindy (Tom) Van Buekenhout of Dauphin and Marius of Winnipeg. She was blessed with thirteen grandchildren, Robert (Kim) Abbott, Richard Abbott, Russell Abbott, Raymond (Colleen) Abbott, Ryan (Erica) Abbott, Deanna (Huber Baldovinos Orozco) van Schyndel, Adrian (Mandy) van Schyndel, Debbie (Ryan) Flanagan, Kathy (Mike) Clark, Donald McClements, Steven McClements, Jean-Paul (Meghan) Langevin and Michelle Langevin; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Johanna loved her family. She was always her happiest at family get-togethers, vacations, celebrations, family dinners and camping (in her younger days). She was well known for her kind heart and sharp wit. Anyone who knew her, knew she was not adverse to "speaking her mind". To others she befriended, she was always willing to provide a helping hand and volunteer her time. Family will always hold a special place in our hearts for Mom, and will feel at peace knowing that she has reunited with Adrianus, Joan, Jacqueline and other family members who predeceased her.
The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to the incredibly kind and compassionate staff at the Revera Parkview Place Care Home who assisted Johanna and her family to ensure she had a good stay and comfortable passing.
Due to current COVID restrictions a public service will not be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one's choice on behalf of Johanna.
