ERNEST (ERNIE) VINCENT
TYMOFICHUK
September 23, 1941 - November 12, 2020

Peacefully on November 12, 2020, Ernie, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend passed away and entered his Eternal Home. Forever comforted by his Lord, he is survived by his wife Elaine, daughter Sheryl, son Dwayne, brother Ed (Isabel), many extended family members and cousins in Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania. He was predeceased by parents, Tony and Tillie Tymofichuk.
Born and raised on the family farm near Malonton, Manitoba he attended schools at Malonton, Teulon and Gimli, graduating in 1961. He married Elaine in 1972 and was welcomed into a large extended family.
Upon graduation Ernie started work for Canadian Pacific Railway in the Winnipeg Pricing office and later transferred to Montreal Headquarters. He was very knowledgeable about freight rates, tariffs and divisions. His diligence to and help for fellow co-workers was one of his trademarks. He applied his quiet demeanor to ensuring that the interests of the C.P.R. were uppermost in his work values. He was a valued employee. Those who knew him personally are the better for having him as a friend and co-worker.
Ernie was a good and gentle man, devoted to his family, faithful to church and God. He would extend a hand to anyone at any time. He enjoyed being Mr. Fix-it long before Youtube and would tackle any problem. During retirement he worked several summers at St. Boniface Golf Course mowing the fairways to perfection, doing small fixes, and maintaining signs at several other courses.
He enjoyed sports and outdoor activities such as baseball, hockey, soccer, camping and fishing. Curling and cheering on the Goldeyes, Bombers and Jets brought out his competitive spirit. Frequent family gatherings and celebrations were enjoyed with food, refreshments and music in abundance.
Ernie and family enjoyed many camper trailer trips in Canada and winter vacations in California, Mexico, and Cuba.
One of his fondest memories was travelling to Ukraine with Ed in July 2008 to see their father's village. With the help of cousin Ivan from Lithuania they met with their last remaining uncle, his family and many cousins as well seeing the location of their father's house, village, school, the family cemetery and surrounding countryside.

Jesus said "I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will have the light
of life and will never walk in darkness".

Until we meet again
"Vichnaya pamyat, Memories forever."

The family thanks all the wonderful doctors, nurses, and care staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge, Victoria and Grace Hospitals for their kindness and gentle care.
Due to covid a service limited to five people will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or a charity of choice.

Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • My sorrowful feelings go out to Mrs. Tymofichuk on the passing of Mr. Tymofichuk's father. May the Father comfort you during this sad time, may the good Lord bring you peace, and may the Holy Spirit guide you through the most difficult journey of your life. Mrs. Tymofichuk was a substitute teacher who not only filled in when my curriculum teachers were away, she also went with me to lectures in the mainstream area when my Special Education teacher from the Interprovincial Program for Students with Autism (I.P.S.A.) was absent. - Posted by: Philip (--) on: Oct 08, 2021

  • So sorry for your loss of Ernie, When I was a young girl I went to the family farm with my parents Anne and Lewis and the Stecuik's. At the farm the adults played cards. And I went to my friend Angie Tarnowski's. I occasionally played cards with the adults, Ernie never played he just stood at the top of the stairs watching us. He was a very shy quiet man. When I saw Ernie's obituary I was shocked, all my childhood memories at his farm came flooding back to me. Losing your husband and father is never easy it's the most painful experience anyone can go through, I would like to say it get's easier but it never really does. We just learn how to accept and some how move on with our lives finding that "New normal". May you keep him alive with you with memories and stories you have of Ernie. May Ernie rest in the Lord's hands, vichnaya pamyat - Posted by: Helen Yakimchuk (nee mussey) (Friend) on: Nov 20, 2020
