It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Margaret Van Wyk (nee Koop) on November 20, 2020, at the age of 87.
Margaret was born in Steinbach, Manitoba to Peter N. Koop and Katherina (Tina) Koop in 1933. She married her beloved husband Eltjo (Joe) Van Wyk in 1957. Together they raised their three children, Jannes (Jim), Katherine (Kathy), and Margaret Jr.
Margaret was competitive by nature and loved playing games. Each person who visited her would be subject to a game of Yahtzee before they left. She also loved playing bingo, card games, working in the garden, and spending time with loved ones.
She will be deeply missed by her brothers, Jac (Mary), David (Carol), and Neil (Marge); her son Jim (Linda), her daughter Margaret Jr. (Doug); grandchildren, Joseph, Phillip, and Karen, as well as their families. She is reunited with her parents, siblings, husband and daughter Kathy. Oh what a joyous reunion that will be.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions a memorial service for Margaret will be held at a later date when it is safe to do so.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to a charity of your choice.
