NICHOLAS JOHN TREYTURIK
January 1, 1921 - November 19, 2020
He leaves to mourn his daughters, Janis Vanderwerf, Alice Frechette; and son David (Belinda); and grandson Cole. He was predeceased by his wife Thelma; daughter Theresa (Teri); son Nicholas (JR); parents, Josephine and William; brothers, Peter and Mike; sister Anne; and most recently, sister-in-law Elsie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dad was a Second World War veteran and was stationed in Europe, serving his country until 1946. Back home while stationed in Kingston, Ontario, he met his future wife, Thelma. They married in March 1946 and settled in Winnipeg to raise their family.
With his passing, the neighbourhood has lost one of the last remaining icons. If you ever needed anything, Mr. T was the go-to person to help you out. He will be sorely missed by friends, relatives and neighbours.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to the staff on the 4th and 5th floors at Seven Oaks Hospital. Your kindness, care and compassion during Dad's stay show how truly professional you really are, especially during this crazy pandemic. A special thank you goes out to MAID, Dr. Kristin Heinrichs, Colleen Barbour (RN), and Tanis Newsham (SW). Your compassion and care in Dad's final moments made our grief much easier to handle. We would also like to thank neighbours, Meeru and Marylou, for their care of Dad.
Due to the covid virus, a private family service was held. A Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
Dad, your struggles and pain are now over. Rest in Peace. Say hello to Mom, Teri and JR, and all the fur babies waiting to greet you.
We will all miss you Big Guy.
