DONALD GEORGE HUTTON
He was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Marion Hutton of Brandon, sister Deb, and daughter Traci Priestley. He is survived by Sharon, his loving wife of 57 years; children, Christal (Jason) DeBaets, son Craig (Joanne); grandchildren, Alyssa (Ryan) Mariani, Daniel (Elissa) Priestley, Kathleen Priestley (Matt Phillips-Munoz), Stephen Priestley, Cassandra Priestley, Jeffery Priestley (Shelbi Brown), Ashley DeBaets, Raina DeBaets, Hannah Hutton and Carter Hutton; as well as his great-grandsons, Ezekiel and Sebastian Priestley. Don's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always a source of joy and pride. Don also leaves his brother Murray (Judy) Hutton; nephews, Mike (Sheila) and Scott Hutton (Tammy Weber), their families, and son-in-law Robert Priestley.
In Brandon, Dad grew up enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping. He moved to Winnipeg in 1965, when he started with Great West Life, where he worked until retiring in 1998. During his time with Great West Life, he became a Fellow of the Life Office Management Association. Away from work, Don loved to play golf with Sharon at Southwood Golf and Country Club, and curled many years at Fort Rouge Curling Club. Don's love of the outdoors was passed on to his family, and yearly camping trips will be fondly remembered.
Dad spent many hours tinkering on woodworking and other projects in his garage or workshop, or with his beagle companions Muffin and Shadow going on long walks. Building balsa wood models and listening to music with Sharon were among his evening hobbies. Upon retiring, he joined the Fort Rouge Seniors' Duplicate Bridge Club.
Don's family would like to thank his doctors, as well as the Paramedics and the emergency staff at the St. Boniface Hospital, for their compassionate care.
A celebration of Don's life will take place once gatherings are permitted.
In his memory, donations can be made to the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Lung Association, or a charity of choice.
