WILLIAM HARRY NAUGLER
January 28, 1928 - November 28, 2020

On Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Extendicare Oakview Place Personal Care Home in Winnipeg Manitoba, our loving, friendly, kind hearted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend passed away. Harry will join his wife of 52 years, Mary Gertrude (Trudy), and their only son Scott Michael in heaven.
Left to mourn his passing, besides many friends, are his sister Louise McLaughlin; his in-laws, Pat and Maureen and Austin and Doris; numerous nieces and nephews, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and children, Sharon (Brenda Adelman), Mary Anne Goheen (John); stepchildren, Meghan and Ross; Tina Bramadat (Derek) - children: Janine Bramadat (Trevor Fisher), Katie Da Silva (Jamie), Carson Bramadat (Alyssa Cook); Kerry Fiks (Randy) - children: Amanda Martens (Nevin), Nicole Fiks (Zach Sweet), Terri Ross (Jeremey) and Tanis Mauws (Sean Lancaster). His great-grandchildren also mourn his loss without ever really getting to know his sense of humour, and his enjoyment of life: Cash, Hazel, Zhara-Leigh, Keelan, Connor, Emerson, Blake, Lincoln, Scotti and Lexi.
Harry was predeceased by his parents, Spurgeon and Gertrude, his loving wife Mary Gertrude (Trudy), his only son Scott Michael, his sister Alice and husband Eugene (Bun) Paquette, brother-in-law Mickey Mclaughlin, and brother and sister-in-law Joe and Mary Scott.
Harry was born in West Dublin, Nova Scotia on January 28, 1928 to Spurgeon and Gertrude Naugler. He joined the Canadian Airforce in 1946 at the age of 18 on September 21, 1948. He served until September 22, 1972. Harry spent the last several years of his career working as a carpenter and machinist at the Canadian Armed Forces Base in Winnipeg until 1988.
Harry met and fell in love with a beautiful singer at a Barrie, Ontario Air Force Base social event. Trudy stole his heart with her voice and beauty. They married shortly after on May 3, 1952. They raised five children with love and support, always providing their children with adventure and opportunity. In 1972, the Naugler family relocated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where the family lived for the remainder of their years. The family enjoyed spending many weekends and summers at Grindstone Provincial Park in a family built cottage.
After retirement, Harry (as well as Trudy until her death in 2003) became part of a new family in Western Way Resort in Tucson, Arizona. They spent most of their winters living it up with a large, extended family there. On Harry's 80th birthday, he had 200 family and friends attend his luncheon and dance shindig…as dad would call it.
Thank you to the staff at Extendicare Oakview Place Personal Care Home, 1 North Memory Lane Ward, who took such good care of our dad, grandfather and great-grandfather during his most vulnerable year. They showed compassion and love to him when we were unable to do so due to COVID restrictions. We would also like to acknowledge and thank Kayla Kaminski for the time she spent with dad over the past few years keeping him company and bringing him milkshakes.
Harry never met a stranger and was a "child at heart." He lived a life full of warmth and friendship. He loved to golf and began the tradition of family theme dinners, the highlight for him every year.

MAY THE ROAD RISE UP TO
MEET YOU.
MAY THE WIND BE ALWAYS
AT YOUR BACK.
MAY THE SUN SHINE WARM
UPON YOUR FACE AND UNTIL
WE MEET AGAIN,
MAY THE LORD HOLD YOU IN
THE PALM OF HIS HAND.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will have a memorial celebration of Harry's life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, or Extendicare Oakview Personal Care Home.
