RICHARD GEORGE MEYER
April 20, 1933 - November 24, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved Dad and Grandad left us peacefully at the Grace Hospital November 24, 2020.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Iona (nee Schuster); his parents, Stephen and Enid of Windsor, Ontario and brother Jim of London, Ontario.
He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his loving children, Steve (Denise), Dallyce and Juli (Murray), grandchildren, Matt, Andrew, Sara and Kyra, and brother Joe (June). He also leaves many special brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.
After a career in the R.C.A.F. and as a business owner Dad enjoyed a long and happy retirement. He lived not only in Winnipeg but Las Vegas, Calgary, and Langley, BC and had many good times with family and friends. Dad had a great passion for gardening, cooking and his beloved green Riders which was always a constant source of verbal jabs especially when they beat the Bombers!!
The family would like to thank the WFPS, Grace Hospital 3 South and the home care staff for their exceptional care and kindness.
Cremation has taken place and Dad is now resting beside his beloved Iona.
If you desire to make a charitable donation the CNIB was a great help to Dad.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Just found this obituary. I used to visit with your dad on the phone every once in a while. He had fond memories of my dad, which I was glad to hear about. I enjoyed my visits with him and it was nice to have a contact with the Buley side of the family. - Posted by: Lois Buley Wirth (Cousin) on: Dec 18, 2022

  • To all of Dick's Children and Grandchildren In a round about way we just heard about Dick passing away, and so sorry to hear this sad announcement. Uncle Steve and My Dad Jim Meyer were part of the family of brothers and sisters that made up that whole Meyer gang. The last time Mick and I saw your Dad was when he was still in Vegas and where the heat and warmth did wonders for his Arthritis. We did connect up years later again and were able to chat back and forth thru e-mail, to catch up on some lost years, till your Dad's eyes got worse for him. Too bad Vegas was not a surprise visit but it was a wonderful one anyways. May all your Happy Memories, give you some feelings of peace going forward for you all and hugs to all of you from another second cousin. • We just found out and thankful to Linda to let us know and to be able to send our deepest condolences to his family and friends. RIP - Posted by: Jerry Stewart Lois Stewart (Cousins) on: Jan 16, 2021

  • Have only known Richard for a short time. When I moved into the block on Westwood Drive, I moved onto the floor he first lived on. He introduced himself the first time we met and during our conversations realized we both like "Saskatchewan RoughRiders". He had a talent of making decorations and was great at it. Was sad when he moved away, then excited when he moved back but on a different floor. He was always so kind, and and easy to tell that he cared for a lot of people. He will be missed. - Posted by: Judie Schnell (friend in the block where he lived) on: Dec 05, 2020

  • Our heartfelt sympathy to you Stephen, Dallyce, Julie and Families. Remembering the good times in Las Vegas. - Posted by: Robert & Laurie McNaughton (Cousin) on: Dec 05, 2020
