ROBINA (RUBY) FRASER
108 years
Left to treasure her memory are nieces, Lynne Hutcheon and Eleanor Riddell (David) and nephews, Glen Hamilton (Sally), Joe Barnsley (Karen), Grant Hamilton (Kelle) and Gary Hamilton (Wendy) and families. Ruby was predeceased by her loving husband Sidney George Fraser, her parents, Robert and Catherine Hamilton, sisters, Catherine, Nellie (Jack) Roberts, Margaret (Reg) Barnsley, brothers, Robert (Ina) Hamilton, and Bill (Min) Hamilton.
Ruby was born August 5, 1912 in Winnipeg and in her younger years was an avid sports woman. She worked for the T. Eaton Company for 47 years, first as a messenger girl in the Mail Order and progressed to Manager of the Employment Office in the Service Building.
For over 30 years Ruby enjoyed spending winters in Mesa, Arizona where she and Sid made many wonderful friends.
We have lost a very caring and generous lady who took great joy in listening and learning about the lives and families of everyone she met. Her amazing memory gave her the ability to share the details of her life in a way as if you were there.
Ruby's loves included bingo, wine, her iPad, and the Bombers. But nothing could outmatch her love for the Jets. Winnipeg TV, radio, newspapers and Twitter all have featured Ruby chanting "Go Jets Go".
The family would like to thank the staff at Oakview Place for their love and care shown to Ruby for the past seven years.
A family service will be held at Chapel Lawn. A reception to celebrate Ruby's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your charity of choice in Ruby's honour.

Ruby worked at Eatons the same time I worked in catalogue sales one Christmas and she remembered that after all those years. We sat at bingo together for many years. She will be missed. My condolences to the family. Friend Marie Melleck. - Posted by: Marie Melleck (Friend) on: Dec 07, 2020

Ruby was such a nice lady, We picked her up for bingo for many years which she enjoyed so much. She had to have a dance at ANAF 283 on her 100th Birthday with one of the executive members which she enjoyed. She loved our Grand Daughter Jessica and when the twins were born one was named Ruby and she sure liked that she had named one of the twins after her. She was such an interesting person to speak with. Our condolences to the family. Friends Wilmer & Sylvia Antonio. - Posted by: Wilmer&Sylvia Antonio (Friend) on: Dec 07, 2020

What a blessing & a privilege to have developed a deep relationship with 'Aunt' Ruby since my Mother (Violet Osborn) passed. Visits with Ruby were wonderful heart- warming times; laughing, reminiscing, eating out, 'shopping' at the Dollar Store, garden reading and praying together. She was always interested in my family as well & even my grandchildren 'adopted her' & enjoyed visiting with me on occassion. Such a 'Grand Lady' will be missed by all of us... but welcomed & enjoyed in Heaven's Halls! Blessings & prayers for all the family as she goes home to her 'reward'. Thank you to Gary & Wendy for having encouraged my friendship with Ruby.
