1926 - 2020
Jessie was born on July 18, 1926, to Cornelius and Anna Peters in Glenlea, MB. Later they moved to Niverville, then to Schoenthal (New Bothwell area). Mom was baptized in 1946 at First Mennonite Church. In 1950, she met the handsome Henry Neufeld from Chortitz/Randolph, and they were married in 1952 (reception in Neufeld Garage). Their wedding text was Psalm 121. They raised a large family of five sons and three daughters. Her fantastic cooking, baking, sewing and huge garden kept Mom very busy, with a love of reading providing time to recharge. Mom helped plan many Randolph community events and was a Postmaster at Neufeld Garage (into her early 80s!) where she greeted everyone with a smile. Mom hosted a Randolph Friendship Bible Coffee group and volunteered for many years with the Mennonite Heritage Village Ladies Auxiliary. Her beloved husband Henry passed away in 1998. In 2011, Mom moved to Woodhaven Manor, and then in 2016 to Rest Haven.
Mom gathered strength daily from the deep well of her Lord Jesus Christ, and extended love, value and dignity to all. Her hospitality, wisdom, generous spirit and ability to connect with all ages were God-given gifts, and she became "Aunt Jessie" to many.
Mom (Grandma) will be dearly missed by her children: Ernie (Elsie), Marilyn (Don), Rob (Irm), Garry (Jan), Ron (Yvonne), Vic (Terry), Esther (Eddie), and Bev (Len), as well as her 35 grandchildren and 32 great- grandchildren. Jessie is survived by sister Marie Epp, brother John, and sister-in-law, Frieda, and sister-in-law Tina Neufeld. She was predeceased by husband Henry, parents Cornelius and Anna Peters, brothers, David, George and Neil, sisters, Annie and Margaret, and one grandchild and one great -grandchild.
The family would like to thank all the dear caregivers at Rest Haven.
Flowers are gratefully declined. In honour of our mother please consider a donation to the HavenGroup Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
