NETTIE DORIS GULENCHYN
(SMERCHYNSKI)

September 7, 1927 – December 2, 2020
After a long and full life, it is with heavy hearts and deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother Nettie Gulenchyn.
She was born and raised on a farm in Medika, Manitoba along with her 13 siblings. She later moved to Winnipeg and married Peter Gulenchyn, where they established a home on Walker Avenue and then later Ottawa Avenue.
She was always a hard worker, either at Great West Life or as a home care worker. Her pride was in her garden and her home cooking, as well as family. Always famous for her cabbage rolls and her butter tarts. She loved to laugh and always had a great joke to share.
She is predeceased by her husband Peter and her 13 siblings.
She is survived by her daughter Shirley (and husband Tony) and her son Larry (and wife Gail); as well as twin granddaughters, Jennifer (Charles) and Jacquelyn (Chris) and great-grandchildren, Genevieve, Ben, Sarah and Ethan.
For the last 12 years, Nettie has resided at Charleswood Long Term Care Home. A special thank you to all for the wonderful care they provided.
Due to COVID-19 there will be a private family service and interment.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba.

You can only have one Mother,
loving, kind and true,
no other friend in the world,
will be so true to you.
For all her love and kindness,
she asked for nothing in return,
if the entire world deserted us,
to our Mother we could turn.
To hear her voice, to see her smile,
to sit and talk with her awhile,
to be together in the same old way,
would be our only wish today.

So long Mom, until we meet again.
