KENNETH DUNCAN MCLEAN
July 9, 1982 - December 5, 2020

We are heartbroken to announce that Kenneth Duncan McLean succumbed to cancer on December 5, 2020.
Kenneth was a beloved brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, foster son, friend and community member. He was the light of every room, and a beacon of resilience, positivity, good nature and joy.
He is predeceased by his mother Ruth Elin McLean (Perlmutter) and his father Norman McLean.
He is survived by his brother Norman Jon McLean, sister-in-law Sarah McLean, his nieces and nephews and his loving extended family and foster families. He was a vibrant and treasured member of many communities including his day programs, Special Olympics and church.
Renowned for his joke-telling, quizzes and an astounding ability to re-enact cherished movie scenes, he was the best of company at all times and will be sorely missed at home, work, church, and family gatherings. He loved re-living his favourite moments, and we will love doing the same for the countless memories, stories and laughs he blessed us with.

You will truly leave behind an
unfillable void, but we look
forward to seeing you again.
We love you Kenneth.

  • I am very sad to hear of Ken's passing and I want to express my deepest sympathy to his brother and family, and friends. I greatly enjoyed all the time I spent with Ken as a foster sister and feel very lucky to have had him in my life, he was a very special person and I will miss him very much. I have many wonderful memories of him that I will always cherish. - Posted by: Heather Fraser (Foster sister) on: Dec 15, 2020

  • Condolences to family of Kenneth -'Bro', Sarah and their children - no matter what was the next event on Ken's list - all events celebrated by his own family and aunts, uncles, cousins, always came first with anticipation- and loved going to their Gimli cottage with his mother and aunts. Ken loved WASO and never missed work. Ken talked about his staff 'buddies' and by name and they were a part of his life even when not at work. Ken planned for all WASO parties in months advance and for the WASO Christmas party 2019 came dressed as an elf. His staff 'buddies' made sure Ken was able to attend one of his favorite Band Concerts - AQUA. Ken loved attending his Church and was always ready. Ken loved their events especially when they would serve refreshments. Ken was a 'missionary' as we recognized his gift in saying Grace and would suggest Ken in this role where ever we visited and all persons expressed being blessed by his prayers. As a 'foster family' for eight years - Ken was a source of constant amusement and creativity for each one of us. We were always amused and surprised at Ken's excitement at doing just about everything - even going to the Bank with Bill was great as then he was in charge of telling the bank person what he came for and how to make denominations. We learned to stand back when Ken went to the cashier and would tell the change required even before the register. Ken is known in Saskatchewan with relatives as being a star break dancer and took the center stage at weddings for his request for One More Time to be played. Ken loved writing poems, thoughts for the day, quizzes and doing tributes for any birthdays, loved music and had endless CDs and loved movies and could quote parts of movies and had a list of persons to phone frequently for quizzes. Enjoyed really long car trips or bus or VIA Rail trips as then he would be able to enjoy all of his movies and music. Loved going to our cottage and eating in a restaurant along the way and historical bus tours. Really enjoyed Rainbow Stage Productions, Fringe, Live Theatre productions, and recently discovered WSO productions. Enjoyed his 10 Pin Bowling Team with Special Olympics, absolutely loved shopping, loved his season Pass with Bill at the Zoo and all the animals in our homes. Ken as well was a Gamer- and was recognized by family members as having advanced gaming skills- known for his knowledge on Pokeman with memory and problem solving skills- always gaming was aimed at solving good over evil. Ken's great lessons are that even in difficulty there is something positive and good and that good will always triumph over wrong and there is gratitude and excitement in living in the very small and sameness of our lives in the moment. In Gratitude - 'foster parents' and family' Bill and Shirley Fraser - Posted by: Shirley and William Fraser ('foster parents' ) on: Dec 14, 2020

  • Kenneth was a special young man and I had many good times with him over the years. My life was special by knowing this young man. - Posted by: Bob Edwards (Friend) on: Dec 12, 2020

  • Kenneth was an extraordinary young man. When Kenneth moved in and joined our family we became a part of his family. Kenneth was always ready to help in the Kitchen. His positive attitude was infectious, everyday consisted of numerous jokes and often a game or two. Although it's been several years since Kenneth has lived with us he still remained very important and kept in close contact. Many of our conversations involed our dogs Bella and Nala or crazy nut and heartacker as Kenneth had nic named them. We are grateful for the opportunity to have shared in his life and will hold onto all the memories. Our condolences to Kenneths family during this time of loss. We will miss Kenneth.❤ Love Coreen & Wally - Posted by: Coreen & Wally Othman (Foster Parent) on: Dec 12, 2020

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Ken when he came from high school for work experience. He soon became one of my favourite people to work with. For over 20 years I had Ken by my side telling jokes and riddles. I am deeply saddened by this news and will miss him terribly. He made everyone’s life around him better. A testament to his impact on people’s lives is the amount of people who have reached out to me upon hearing of his passing. My condolences to his family and friends. Ken made me a better person and I will forever be grateful for his presence in my life. I am lucky to have known him and to call him my friend. - Posted by: Judson Smith (Friend ) on: Dec 12, 2020
