Joan Walker, born May 18, 1922, Skipton, Yorkshire, England, passed away suddenly at Grace Hospital on Thursday, December 3, 2020.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, Sam and Eleanor Walker; brother George, and niece Christine of Skipton; brother-in-law Russel, nephew Gary and sister Dorothy (April 2020) of Winnipeg.
Joan is survived by her nieces and nephews, Ralph (Suzanne), Susan (George), Fred (Christina), Rosemary, Jon (Janet), Jim (Audrey); and many great-nieces and nephews.
Joan came to Canada in 1948 for a holiday visit and stayed for the next 72 years, living with the Harling family for her entire life. Joan was a marvelous secretary for Russel at Harling Mill Agencies for over 50 years. Joan had a variety of talents and interests, from being an avid knitter and an accomplished bridge player, to enjoying sports and travelling. Joan travelled across Canada and the USA, England, New Zealand, Australia and Cuba. More recently, Joan and Dorothy resided at The Wellington, where they met new friends. The family will celebrate the lives of Joan and Dorothy at a future date.
