MARVIN CLARANCE GOULD
Marv was born in Peterborough, ON and grew up in Winnipeg, MB. A country-western guitar player, singer and entertainer at heart, he moved to Calgary to pursue his dream, recording albums and playing gigs. From there, he met the love of his life, and together, they moved back to Manitoba to raise their small family.
Marv enjoyed installing flooring, playing guitar and singing around campfires, attending country music festivals with his wife and dog in their trailer, having coffee at Robin's Donuts with friends, and sharing in the joy of the birth of his grandchildren.
Left to remember him are his daughter Rhonda (Dave) Pusnik, grandchildren, Dana and Ryan; sister Lynda Jansen; sisters-in-law, Kay (John) Maslechko and Liz Hopkins; brothers-in-law, Rick (Sharron) Hopkins and John Hopkins and copious amounts of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; cousins; aunts and uncles.
Marv is most notably predeceased by his mother Verna; father Howard; stepmother Sunny and last but not least, his beloved wife, Ruby (Hopkins).
Huge thanks go to the staff at Extendicare/Oakview, with special thanks to Janet and Hyacinth, for becoming Dad's surrogate family for the last six years; your care and support are greatly appreciated.
Dad, we love you and will miss you immensely; we'll keep your guitar tuned for you.
In lieu of flowers, Dad would have loved if you poured a rum and seven and listened to, "I've Been Everywhere" by Hank Snow in his honour.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial will be planned at a later date with further details to follow.

In planning a trip back to Winnipeg I was hoping to be able to visit you again Marv. This is very sad news and I’m heart broken. Marv, Ruby, and Rhonda took me into their lives and treated me like one of their family. I will order Chicken Delight and listen to The Devil Went Down to Georgia in memory of you. You are playing your guitar with Ruby, Bandit, Bow, and Jet. You will be missed. Love Kim and Norma Savard. - Posted by: Kim Stubbs (Friend and neighbour) on: May 20, 2021

You used to come into the Salisbury house where I worked every day, we would chat, talk about the weather, music, day to day. You offered to help me do the floors in my mom's house and you and her became good friends. I'll miss seeing you down the street Marv, I'll play a tune for you tonight. - Posted by: Jssse (Friend) on: Dec 13, 2020

Marv was the best friend a person or their dog could ever have. He was always there when you needed him, and never refused to help anyone. He will be sadly missed, and never forgotten. - Posted by: Karen (Friend and neighbour) on: Dec 13, 2020

It is sad sad news. I have so many wonderful memories. From Aunty and Uncle’s wedding here in Calgary to him installing the flooring in the new house in Bellsite. I think the one of him sitting on our deck, drink in hand and that huge Great Dane of his, his name eludes me now, by his side teasing me that I was getting the ugly “blue” carpet in my room. Although many years have passed since the last visit with them, I never forgot and never will. May you rest easy Uncle, Aunty is happy to be reunited and my parents have a whiskey waiting for you. - Posted by: Christine Hopkins (niece) on: Dec 12, 2020

Really saddened to hear of Marv's passing. We had many good times and many laughs together. Lost touch as the years passed, but never forgot. Wherever Marv is now, you can bet that there will be music. - Posted by: Tony Wharrie (Friend) on: Dec 12, 2020
