INDERPAL KAUR JOHAL
August 12, 1949 - December 15, 2020

On December 15, 2020, we lost our beloved mother Inderpal Kaur Johal. Mom was battling throat cancer for the past two years but it never stopped her from caring and loving everyone around her. She was a huge source of inspiration to her children, grandchildren and her siblings alike. She was a retired Teacher, a philanthropist, a nature and God loving human being. She joins our beloved departed father Master Harbhajan Singh in Heaven.
Mom was born in a small town of Meghowal, Punjab in 1949. In those days, education for women was not a common thing so she had to move to her nanka village Kohje for her education from where she completed her graduation. After her graduation she faced a big dilemma as her parents wanted her to marry and she wanted to pursue higher education, also going to post-secondary wasn't something a lot of women were allowed to do in those days but she was adamant and was motivated to do something better with her life. She kept both sides as she got married at the age of 17 but still did her education Hoshiarpur College. While pursuing her degree she had her three kids and with support from her husband who was a teacher himself and her in-law family she finally became a teacher in 1973. She taught all the way until 1999 when she moved to Winnipeg, Canada where she resided until her passing.
Mom is survived by her three kids, Avninder (Hernek), Harpaljit (Kamljit) and Sukhjit (Harjit); two sisters, Mohinder (mindo massi) and Manjit (manni massi) who reside in California; and grandkids, Ruby, Priya, Jay, Japjit, Aahan, Yovan, Jotu and little Sunny.
Her Canadian life was mainly devoted to her kids and grandkids who will miss her very dearly. She loved reading, knitting, cooking, gardening and walking which she enjoyed all the way till her passing.

We will miss you very dearly ma,
your positivity and your smile will
always be there as a guiding light
for all of us. You are alive through
your grandkids as they all have your calmness your grace and your personality.

Mom will also be missed by all of her teaching fraternity back home and also countless people from our village who she helped morally and financially. She loved our village Allarpind very much and yearned to be there every day of her living days.
We sincerely thank Dr. Craig Harlos, Dr. Viallet, Dr. Butlar and countless nurses and other doctors that took care of our mom at CancerCare Manitoba in the last two years of her life.
Private funeral services will be held in memory of our mom at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home.
