MARY (KAY) OSHANSKI
(nee HORASKI)
Kay was predeceased by her loving husband, Nick, her parents, five brothers and three sisters. She will forever be cherished by her daughter, Donna Phillips (Keith), son John, grandsons, Kristopher Phillips (Kathy), Kyle Phillips (Ashley), Chad Oshanski and great-granddaughters, Hannah and Ellie Phillips, along with numerous relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Cloverleaf, Manitoba on October 15, 1927 to Michael and Mary Horaski, receiving her education there. Later, Kay moved to Winnipeg with her sister, found work where she met her future husband, Nick. They were married on September 3, 1949 and shared 55 years together.
Kay was a kind and gentle stay-at-home Mom who dedicated her life maintaining a warm and nurturing home for Nick and her family. Mom was a lady of simple pleasures, whether it be her incomparable delicious meals, listening to music or just enjoying a quiet day, always taking interests in of the world at large, but, especially in her sewing. Her trademark, the sewing machine, would most likely be seen sitting on the table awaiting old and new well perfected projects, insuring she was always dressed well for the occasion.
After Nick's passing, June 22, 2004, Kay moved to her new home at Concordia Village providing new companionship, recreational enjoyment and especially attending Mass, her main passion being her Catholic faith as a long time member of St. Gerard Parish.
The family extends grateful thanks to the staff of Deer Lodge Centre, Lodge 4E for their compassion and excellent care during her short stay.
A private family funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at St. Gerard Parish with Janusz Maron, OFMCap officiating, followed by interment at Glen Eden Cemetery.
If desired, in memory of Kay, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada.
We shall miss Mom's warm smile and unconditional love for us all.
