DOREEN EMILY KALTENTHALER
January 5, 1945 - January 24, 2021
Doreen was predeceased by her husband Anton Wilhelm (Willy Sr.); and her parents, William (Bill) Uhryn and Florence Thomson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her four children, Cindy Harrison (Bruce), Dean Kaltenthaler, Will Jr. Kaltenthaler (Debbie), Cade Kaltenthaler (Lisa); and her sister Brenda Gulchak (Don). Grandma/Granny will be lovingly remembered by her nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and very close family friend who she treated just like a son, Allen Kauenhofen (Linda) and their children.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to her Oncologist Dr. Niraula at St. Boniface Hospital, all the caring and supportive nurses and her Naturopath, Dr. Beatty. We would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and Spiritual Care at Health Sciences Centre who cared for Doreen during her last week of life. Doreen all too often brought chocolates to the nursing staff during her many treatments as a way of thanking them for the wonderful care they provided. Special mention goes to Marybeth and Caroline whom Doreen spoke highly of. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Fatoye, Kildonan Medical Centre who was her family physician and who cared for her when she was at the CancerCare unit at Seven Oaks Hospital. His kindness and compassion were key to Mom being so positive and not allowing the cancer to beat her spirit.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family service was held on Friday, January 29, 2021. A heartfelt thank you to Fr. Dmytro Dnistrian CSsR for officiating the service and for being so accommodating. A celebration of Doreen's life will take place later in the year when it is safe to do so, where her friends and family can celebrate together and share their memories.
Contributions in Doreen's memory may be made at CancerCare Manitoba.

Oh my goodness Aunty Doreen how much I miss you can't be put into words. I found myself wanting to call you on Christmas and then remembered I won't have our talks anymore. Tears running down my face when I think about you. In two days, its our first birthday without you and and almost a year since you left us. You were so much more than just my Aunty/Godmother, you were my confidante, my trusted advisor, my teacher and friend. You taught me so much, and in my adult life we had talks about things I never knew about you, as I experienced hardships. You were always there for me helping guiding me through it all religiously or not. You were my rock!! You never passed judgment to anyone no matter race, religion, sexuality, you truly accepted everyone and taught me to do the same. I love Aunty Doreen, always will. Till we meet again!!! - Posted by: Natasha (Goddaughter) on: Jan 03, 2022

Mom as I sit here and cry I think about all our wonderful memories and think how blessed I was to have you as my mom. You were the best mom anyone could ask for and I don't know how I was so lucky to have you as my mom. You taught us to love everyone no matter of race, gender or sexuality. I could go on for days and tell stories how wonderful you where and how many lives you touched. There will not be a day that goes by you will not be in my thoughts. Our family gatherings will never be the same but I promise you they will continue and we will be thinking of you as that's what you would want. Mom this isn't good bye but see you when God calls my name and you waiting to great me with you arms open and a big kiss to start our next journey together as angels. Until we meet again mom I love you more then words can say and will miss you every day. Love You. Cadeshin 💞 - Posted by: Cade Kaltenthaler (Son) on: Jan 30, 2021

I met Doreen when I was 17 at St Charles Country Club and she was like a second mother to me. I had the pleasure to work with her for 10 years but our friendship didn’t end there. I will forever cherish the memories working the early weekend mornings or out in the garden. She taught me a lot, and one thing that will stick with me is to live life to it’s fullest and have fun you only live once. You will forever be our Doe Doe, you will be missed. - Posted by: Janna Thomson (Friend) on: Jan 30, 2021

Many great memories with Doreen since first meeting her at St. Charles C.C. in 1980. The weddings, social functions; she was there for each and every one of us and if she couldn't be, a card or phone call was made. I will miss the presence of a truly kind, caring, loving friend. My heartfelt condolences to her family. Rest in Peace, Doe Doe - Posted by: Nancy (Friend) on: Jan 30, 2021
