GAIL ALBERTA ORCHARD
Gail was predeceased by her husband Barry E. Orchard. She will be lovingly remembered by their five children, Carol (John Townsend), Wayne (Shelley Orchard) Darcy, Dian (Nathaniel Massey) and Bryan (Jana Orchard); along with many other immediate family members, including eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Gail was born on February 26, 1935 in Winnipeg to her parents, Lloyd and Caroline Mickelson. The majority of her life was spent as a busy mother raising her children, tending to her home, caring for the many pets over the years especially dogs, as well as enjoying her own interests and hobbies. She took pride in her children's achievements, and over the years instilled in them an enduring love of the outdoors and nature. Together, along with Barry she enjoyed camping, summering at the various Ontario cottages, relishing the lake life. She loved baking, reading, crocheting, playing cards/games, swimming, boating, fishing, campfires, and gatherings or activities with family and friends. Known for her sense of humour, easy wit and heartfelt laughter, her joy of life was felt by all who spent time with her. Always the life of the party, she was a great listener, and could spark friendly conversations with anyone, at any time. Her children recall with fondness her enjoyment of having lively discussions with people wherever life took her. Gail appreciated the company of some close friends who were very dear to her over the years. She treasured her time spent at the lake, whether partaking in water activities or just enjoying the peaceful sunsets while listening to the loons.
May her laughter ring forever and
her smile continue to light our paths.
Mom, you will be lovingly missed
for all the cherished memories and
will remain in our hearts forever.
Unfortunately, during this period of restricted travel and gatherings, no formal service will be held at this time. A smaller graveside service and Celebration of Life will be held for her at a later date with immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada, or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
