ALLAN ALBERT SMUTTELL
He will be lovingly remembered by wife Sandra; sons, Jeff (Laura), Daryl (Michelle); stepsons, Jeff (Melissa), and Kerry; and grandchildren, Brayden, Ari, Brett, Tristan, Valorie, Jill, Kiera and James; sisters, Donna, Marian (Bill), and many nieces and nephews.
Allan was predeceased by first wife Karen, daughter Heather and brother-in law Ken.
Allan grew up on the family farm near Crandall, later moving to Brandon and eventually calling Selkirk home for the past 45 years. He enjoyed many friendships working for Manitoba Hydro in both Brandon and Selkirk, retiring in 1999.
He had many hobbies and interests: curling and hockey in winter, fishing and hunting during the summer and fall. In recent summers, the Wednesday golf game was an event not to be missed and a birdie on 18 was a highlight to be sure. Playing games such as cribbage, hearts and marbles were fun filled, exciting pastimes, with family and friends.
Allan was very handy and incredibly hard working; his farm work ethic was very obvious. Whether it was tinkering in the shop or repairing what needed fixing, he was up to any of these challenges. He was an above average carpenter, always offering help to anyone that needed it. He would go above and beyond and did it right the first time.
He was very involved as a father and supported his kids in every way. As a very proud grandfather, he enjoyed watching and encouraging the kids in their endeavors.
Allan and Sandra enjoyed their journey together. They travelled to many places and also wintered in Arizona for many years. They also enjoyed being very active grandparents. Allan loved life at the lake with family and friends around him. He was an avid Saskatchewan Roughrider fan and the Rider flag always flew proudly at the lake.
We will miss you dearly. Love you forever.
Due to Covid, a private family service will be held with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.

Sincere condolences to all the family. Allan was truly a very skilled, polite courteous gentlemen. We would share fishing, hunting , building stories and generally any topic that came to mind be it at a family gathering or when we would meet up at the lake. Allan would always make a point to come by to say hi and catch up. We will miss that big smile of his. Allan truly loved his family and was very proud of each of you. Cherish your memories of him as that was the gift he left us all. Sincerely Rick & Sharon Stephens - Posted by: Rick & Sharon Stephens (cousin) on: Feb 03, 2021

We are sadden to hear of Allan's passing. The family is in our thoughts and prayers. There are many great memories over the year shared with the family at Dorothy Lake and in Selkirk. I will forever remember Allan correcting my grammar when I was younger and we were talking at the lake. He always did it in a positive way and that will stay with me. I remember all the hard times Heather would give him, but always done with love and a smile. Another memory was watching Allan and Gary hope on Darryl and Scott's motorcycles and take them for a ride at the lake. They had big smiles on their faces. Cherish those memories over these challenging times. We are sending our love and support to all of you. Take care Alex - Posted by: Alex Rowntree (Cousin) on: Feb 02, 2021

So very sorry to learn of Allen passing away. Our condolences to you Sandra and to Jeff and Darryl as well as the extended family. Our hearts are with you all as you work through the days ahead filled with emotion and sorrow. Only time can ease the sharpness of this deep sadness as we know you are all very well aware. So very sorry that this is so tragically accompanied by the extra need to remain distant physically from the personal comfort that only being with family can offer you all. Your dear husband, father and grandfather has provided you all with many joyous memories of which we have often heard from his grandsons Brett and Tristan. Grandpa Allen was dearly loved and well spoken of. Take care the best you all can. Sincerely Dick and Joyce - Posted by: Dick and Joyce Friesen (Friends) on: Jan 31, 2021
