LILY SHUET-PING ENG
February 4, 1936 - January 24, 2021
She was predeceased by her husband, Albert in 2005 and grandchild, Garrick in 2009.
She is survived by her children: Ricky (Vivien) and grandchildren, Erick, Dieter and Vivianna of Edmonton, AB; Eileen (Rick) and grandchildren, Grace and Lily of Winnipeg; Wallie (Stephanie) and grandchild, Connor of Winnipeg; and Stanley (Linda) and grandchildren, Evan, Daniel and Calyssa of Winnipeg. She is also survived by her brother, Norman Chao (Helen) and niece and nephews, and also her brother-in-law, Garry Kung-Ming Eng (Florence) and niece and nephews.
She immigrated to Winnipeg from Toi-Sun, China in 1957. She married Albert and raised four children. She was instrumental in helping Dad with all his business endeavours, working alongside him to support her family - often working seven days a week.
She was very resourcefully determined and lived life on her own terms. She bestowed this work ethic to her kids and with Dad, stressed the importance of education in her children - successfully putting her children through university - producing an educator, dentist, physiotherapist and a physician.
She enjoyed gardening, Chinese cuisine and watching Chinese TV. The numerous newspapers and books she often read fueled her quest for new knowledge. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family - her source of happiness and pride in her life. Family was very important to her.
Her sacrifices and love nurtured us to be who we are today. Thank you Mom. You will forever live in our hearts and our memories. We love you.
A private viewing will take place on Monday, February 1, 2021. Due to COVID restrictions, a formal service will not be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lily's honour can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
