WILLIAM (BILL) SWANTON
He leaves behind his loving wife, Peggy, of 44 years; their two children, Andrea (Dave), Jeffery (Amanda); and six grandchildren, Chloe, Connor, Christian, Rylee, Sawyer, Dawson, and a granddaughter due in April.
He is also survived by his sister Susan and numerous family members on both the Swanton and Monkman sides.
He was predeceased by his parents, William Swanton and Betty Foster; his brothers, Elliott, George and John; sister Isabelle; and grandson Bowen.
Bill worked in many different fields, retiring from Manitoba Hydro after 33 years.
He was a gentle, caring person with a wonderful sense of humour. He had many hobbies and interests, boating, fishing, hockey, hunting, taxidermy, scrabble and painting beautiful pictures. He could get any old car running.
Bill and Peggy travelled to Hawaii, Mexico and went on three cruises. The best trips were going to Alberta to see his grandchildren. He treasured all of his grandchildren. Often going on walks to the playground and of course the candy store. They called him PopPop, and he loved each one dearly. He was thrilled with his PopPop license plate.
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and all the exceptional workers at the SMHC for their skilled, loving and respectful care.
A private family celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Bill's farewell video can be viewed on the Gilbart Funeral Home website.

Dear Peggy, Andrea and Jeffery Our sincere condolences on the passing of your beloved husband and father. We met Bill and Peggy in Gillam while working at Manitoba Hydro there. Bill was very friendly, kind and always smiling. Hope all your wonderful family memories give you comfort and peace. Our thoughts are with you during this very difficult time. Dear Peggy & Family, What a beautiful video tribute to Bill. He was always so friendly, always stopping by for a few words when on his walks. Our deepest condolences to you all.
