MARGARET EVELYN FABER
Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Jacob Ernest and Helena Faber and her brother-in-law Clifford Edwards, CM, OM, QC. She is survived by her sister Kathleen Edwards; nieces, Jeanette Edwards (John) and Marnie McAdie (Malcolm) and nephews, John Edwards (Linda) and Michael Edwards (Catherine). The family will miss Margaret's quiet and gentle manner and her untiring interest in everyone's activities, including those of her six great-nephews and niece.
Margaret was born in Bootle (Lancashire), England on May 16, 1924. She completed her Occupational Therapy training in England in 1956 and worked as an Occupational Therapist in London. In 1972, Margaret immigrated to Canada and worked at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre until her retirement. During her working career, she completed her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy degree and for many years, assumed leadership roles in her profession. She mentored numerous students and volunteered many hours with the Manitoba Society of Occupational Therapists and the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba.
Margaret was a devoted Christian and a steadfast supporter of missions and humanitarian work. She was a faithful member of Church of the Way while living in Canada. The family would like to thank the congregation at Church of the Way for their prayers and support. Each of their messages was lovingly read to Margaret while she was in hospital. The family would also like to thank the staff of the Victoria General Hospital for their care and support. A special thank you to the hospital volunteer who, on his first day, enabled a FaceTime farewell with Margaret the day before she passed away.
Due to current COVID restrictions, a private burial service will be held. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date as Margaret had wished.
In memory of Margaret, the family will be establishing a Margaret Faber Memorial Student Award at the College of Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the University of Manitoba, Margaret Faber Memorial Award, 200-137 Innovation Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3T 6B6 or online at give.umanitoba.ca

My condolences to you, Jeanette, and to your family on the loss of this remarkable woman. She hired me for my first job as an occupational therapist at the Rehabilitation Hospital in 1974 and I admired her greatly as a leader in our field. - Posted by: Linda Wiebe (Former colleague) on: Jun 14, 2021

My condolences and sympathy to Jeanette and family. I have such warm memories of Margaret when she was the Director of Occupational Therapy at the Rehabilitation Hospital. She provided gentle, supportive leadership to her staff and colleagues in the profession. She returned to university while working in a demanding administrative position, demonstrating that learning never ends and leading by example. Margaret was always there when the call went out for volunteers and she gave generously of her time and clear thinking. I mourn her passing, but I am grateful for her legacy. - Posted by: Juliette Cooper (Former colleague) on: Apr 07, 2021
