DOREEN MARY BOLT
(nee POOLE)
July 11, 1927 - April 16, 2021
She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth in 2015, father John, mother Margaret, brother John, and sister Margaret.
Doreen will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her son Kevin (Bonnie) of Winnipeg and daughter Karen (Bill) of Denver; her grandchildren, Ken (Kerri), Christopher (Stephanie), Ashley (Jesse), Matthew (Rheana), Pamela (Nick), Colin (Kelly), Daniel (Catherine), Lianne (Bohdan), Jennifer (Dustin) and 13 great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn her passing are nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
Doreen was born and raised in Glenboro, Manitoba. She grew up working in the family butcher shop before becoming a bank teller. On June 6, 1950, Doreen married the love of her life, Ken, after which her primary role became raising a close knit family. She had a zest for life with so much energy (always on the move and never wanting to rest), entertaining stories full of advice and laughter, and most importantly love. Mom was a talented knitter, creating beautiful sweaters, toys, afghans and most recently toques for donation to CancerCare Manitoba. She also enjoyed walking, baking, curling and watching her beloved Winnipeg Jets.
Following Ken's retirement, many fond memories were created over 23 years as a Winter Texan on N Padre Island. Mom and Dad will also be fondly remembered for celebrating each day with their traditional Happy Hour of a rum and coke. Mom carried on this tradition until the very end.
Many thanks to the Rosewood Staff who took such good care of Mom for the last six years.
A family Celebration of Life will be held once covid restrictions are lifted.
