RICHARD DOUGLAS HUNTLEY
June 8, 1957 - April 26, 2021

After a five-month battle, the complications and after effects of COVID 19 proved to be too much for Richard, so it is with great sadness the family of Richard Huntley announces his passing at the age of 63 on April 26, 2021.
Richard was predeceased by his mother, Florine Huntley in 1987, and his nephew, Jeffrey Hill in 2004. Left to mourn Richard's passing are his father, John Huntley, his sister, Carolyn Chittick, his nephew, Douglas Hill, as well as numerous extended family members, aunts, uncles and cousins. He will also be greatly missed by Lori and Teresa, the remaining members of his group home family on Adsum Drive where he lived for close to 40 years.
Richard was chosen to be one of the first adults to transition to group home living in Winnipeg and moved into the house on Adsum Drive with seven other residents in the early 1980s. He loved to visit his family for special occasions, but he sure let us know when it was time to go to his home.
Richard was a kind and gentle person and loved by all that knew him. He faced great challenges in his life, but he was also a happy person and lived his life to the best of his ability. He loved his job at Imaginability and was proud of the fact that he worked. He loved watching wrestling on TV and was fortunate to attend a couple of wrestling matches when they came to Winnipeg. He knew all the Wrestler's names and who were the good guys and who were the bad guys. He also loved to socialize, and Tim Horton's was his favourite place to go. No matter what present he received for his birthday or Christmas, his Wrestling Magazines and Tim Horton's gift cards were the ones he cherished the most.
The family would like to thank all his caregivers over the 40 years he lived on Adsum Drive. Special thanks to Sarah and Sandy from Epic Opportunities, who were a great support to Richard and his family during his illness.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Epic Opportunities, 1600 Ness Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3W7 or a charity of one's choice.
Due to COVID restrictions, only a private family service will be held at this time.
