ANGELA (NELL) RUMAK
(nee SERAPHIN)
Nell was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Frances, her husband Fred and her siblings, Pearl, John, Mary and Anne.
She is survived by her son Fred (Anne Witzaney) of Calgary, daughter Andrea Moore (Jim) and their families. Nell will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews all of whom had a special relationship with "Auntie Nell".
Nell was born and raised in Beausejour and lived there most of her life. In 2009 she moved to Winnipeg to be closer to Andrea.
Following Fred's untimely passing in 1970, she returned to school to hone her typing skills and was subsequently employed at Atomic Energy of Canada in Pinawa as a receptionist until her retirement in 1985. Nell was proud of the fact that despite being a single parent both Fred and Andrea graduated from university.
Nell was a devout Catholic and a longtime parishioner of St. Mary's in Beausejour and St. Emile's in Winnipeg. While living in Beausejour she was an active member of the Catholic Women's league as well as the Women's Institute.
She was fortunate to be able to travel with family and friends including trips to Europe, Australia and Hawaii along with numerous other destinations in Canada and the USA. She also enjoyed visiting her granddaughter Jennifer Davis (Brad) and her three great-granddaughters, Chloe, Elle and Scarlett in Lethbridge.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Beausejour on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary's cemetery. Due to Covid restrictions the service will be private. For those who wish may view the service via livestream, by following this link: https://youtu.be/c17iBW3VfQY
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or to a charity of one's choice.
The family would like to thank the wonderful and compassionate staff at Golden Links Lodge who cared for her in her final years.

Andrea, Fred and families. The last time I saw Nell, quite a few summers ago in BJ at an outdoor marketplace near the Legion, I immediately recognized her. Dressed so nicely and smiling. Seemed very happy to be outdoors with her 2 friends. She was a good neighbour to my Aunt Bertha all those years. It is Mother’s Day and she will be in your thoughts. My sincere condolences. - Posted by: Janet Stepaniuk (Friend) on: May 09, 2021

Nell was a friend of my mother and quickly became a friend to everyone in our family. She was smart, strong, funny, generous and always glamourous. We shared many dinners and lively discussions over the decades. The last time I saw Nell she gave me a small piece of depression glass so I would remember her. I will cherish that special gift and remember her with great affection. My best wishes to Andrea and Fred. You had an incredible mother. - Posted by: Dale Dreffs (Friend) on: May 06, 2021

Fred, Andrea and all the Rumak family, I extend my sincere condolences on the passing of Nell. I knew her from the store she and Fred operated and also as a fellow employee at AECL Pinawa. Nell was one of the nicest people I have ever met. RIP - Posted by: Dave Donahue (friend and worked at AECL) on: May 06, 2021

Nell was a good friend of my Mom's and was very dear to me. I was always impressed with her sense of style, charm and humour. When she would visit, my Mom and Nell would enjoy a gin and tonic or "split a beer" on a hot day. Neither of them were big drinkers, but we had lots of laughs, particularly after I had kids and Nell became very fond of them. I'll always remember Nell laughing so hard when my young son sang "What's New Pussycat" to her. She still laughed about it years later and always called me and asked about the kids long after we had moved to Calgary. When she visited Fred one year, we went for lunch to Heritage Park to celebrate her 90th birthday. It is a memory I will always cherish. My deepest sympathy to Andrea and Fred and your families. - Posted by: Leanne Bayne (Friend) on: May 06, 2021

The Rumaks lived behind us and during the summer I would wait until I heard Nell getting her gardening tools out. That was my signal to begin a one-way rambling conversation. She must have been bored to tears but would feign interest- She was a skillfull listener. She was so nice. - Posted by: Allan Meltzer (Former neighbour ) on: May 05, 2021
