VERONICA JOHANNA COLLISON
Veronica was predeceased by her devoted husband Jack; and leaves behind daughters, Joan Stewart (Dale) and Louise Larkins (Ray); grandchildren, Dale (Kim) and Lisa Stewart (David), Shannon (Jocelyn), Kelly (Rachel) and David Larkins, and great-grandchildren, Luke, Sam, Taylor, Aidan, Emma, Lily, Willa, and Leo.
For them, the gifts she has left are in the everlasting memories of a joyful spirit, whose unfailing kindness and warmth left an imprint on the countless lives she touched.
Veronica was born and lived most of her life in Selkirk. It was her town, offering her everything important and meaningful. Her family, cherished friends, and neighbours were essential to her happiness, her way of creating a wonderful life, an uncomplicated life.
She loved coffee, curling, the Bombers, and was an avid cribbage player. She taught all her grandchildren how to play and many hours were spent around her kitchen table chatting and laughing.
Princess of the Icelandic festival, a doting hostess and a story-telling marvel with a quick wit and knack for a punchline, Veronica lived every single one of her one hundred and two years.
Anyone whose life even briefly intertwined with hers would count themselves fortunate to have had such a connection.
The family wishes to give its sincerest thanks to the staff at Misericordia Place for their care for Veronica and helping to ensure her final days were filled with compassion and grace.
The family asks that donations in her memory be made to the Misericordia Place Foundation, or to Diabetes Canada.
Goda nott, elskan.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your wonderful Mom , who I have known all my life. Her fabulous laugh, wonderful story telling and avid interest in people who surrounded her was who she was. Her lifelong friendship of our Mom and their feisty arguments over the years were legendary. Your Mom and our Mom were best friends forever. Veronica was my sister Jennifer's godmother and always kept in touch. Jennifer when she was three or four years old and just called your Mom 'Collison" and your Mom loved that. Sadly Jennifer passed unexpectedly in 2018. Over the years your Mom and I would share ponnukukors and vinetarta on her birthday and should lovingly bring me up to speed on her family and would ask about our family . How you will all miss her but you have so many great memories and stories of a life well lived to comfort you. Thinking of you all with love Paula - Posted by: Paula Johnson Fuller (friend) on: May 29, 2021

A beautiful life well lived. I feel so fortunate to count Veronica as my friend. Loved our visits and grocery shopping trips. I asked her what her trick was to a long life and she said, "I don't eat vegetables!" Strong coffee, great stories and always love and laughter. You will be missed. - Posted by: Heather Fontaine (Friend) on: May 12, 2021

This was such a lovely tribute to a very remarkable woman...Veronica was like a second mom to me...and I spent many hours around that kitchen table. The welcome mat was always rolled out and the coffee always on! Louise and I have been best friends since we were five...so I shared many, many happy times in the Collison home on Eveline Street. When Uncle Kelly and Eulah came to visit or any of the sisters...Sylvia, Dora, Lorraine or Lillian, I loved the laughter that filled the living room, personality was the name of the game! Family trips to the cottage or family trips to the coast, I was included...and made to feel like family. I will never forget the kindness that both Jack and Veronica extended to me. When the grandchildren arrived on the scene a whole new dimension opened up. Veronica was a totally devoted nana, she earned a spot in each grandchild’s heart that will live forever. Anytime I went back to Winnipeg...a visit to see Veronica was always a highlight. She continued to be such an inspiration right to the end. There will never be another Veronica...she so loved each one of her daughters ..and their spouses ...but took particular delight in their families ....her’s was certainly “a life well lived “ ❤️ xo - Posted by: Bonnie McMillan (Friend ) on: May 09, 2021

So many memories of being with Veronica and Jack through their friendship of my father & mother, Bill & Dorothy Law. Still have a picture of my brother Bill & I crawling all over some Ford tractors. Jack had at the Imperial Oil station. Jack & Dad had such a close relationship in golfing, fishing, and hunting, but it was always Veronica that kept things calm. I always enjoyed lunches & visits with my Mom & Veronica. I think their friendship was because they shared Scandinavian roots. Life goes on, but memories always linger & I will always remember Veronica and Jack. Say hello to Mom & Dad. - Posted by: Bob Law (acquaintance ) on: May 08, 2021
