RUPERT GEORGE ROBINSON
He was born August 13, 1946 in Kingston, Jamaica. At the age of 18, Rupert went and served five years in the Jamaican military. After that he served in the Jamaican police force. While on the job he met his wife to be Merlyn. After getting married to Merlyn in 1974, he then followed her to Canada in 1976. He worked for the City of Winnipeg for 25 years.
Rupert who followed his faith was a servant of God. He was a dependable man who spent a lot of his free time with helping and serving others. He was heavily invested in the Jamaican Association community where he created many bonds and friendships. He would be out of the house from sunrise to sunset helping others in any way possible.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Louise, and his brother Lester.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Merlyn; children, Rupert Jr. (Charlene), Gregory (Mae) and Phillip (Barbara); grandchildren, Shayden, Darius, Natasha, Raissa and Gavin; siblings, Lloyd, Richard, Imogene, Cheryl, Judith, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

I have been the Guest Services Coordinator for the Caribbean Pavilion at Folklorama for many years and it was a pleasure to have Rupert as one of our volunteers. He was a wonderful representative at our Pavilion. A man you could always count on. He will be greatly missed. Sending our condolences to his family, friends and all who knew and loved him. Sincerely, Kerry Sampson - Posted by: Kerry Sampson (Folklorama Volunteer) on: May 23, 2021

Gracious, kind and happy is how I would describe Robbie. His smile was contagious and he made everyone happy. He was so humble and very quietly helped anyone that needed help. It was my family's good fortune to have known him and his family. You will always be remembered fondly Your friend Céline - Posted by: Céline Weber (Friend ) on: May 20, 2021

There is no one like Robbie Robinson. I've heard many claims of so and so being a larger than life person but Robbie really was. Robbie was a master story teller, something I suspect runs in the family. Since I was a child I can remember vividly, whenever Robbie was telling a story, everyone in the room being completely captivated and entranced by his enormous personality breathing such life into it. There was always a punch line. And when it hit you, it was as much his laughter as the punch line itself infecting everyone with pure joy. Unfortunately, such a gift is not meant to last forever and Robbie has been taken from us. Fortunately, before leaving he affected all of us with his goodness and gave the world his amazing family, and so the legend of Robbie Robinson lives on forever and ever, amen. - Posted by: Adrian (Peanut) Weber (Family friend) on: May 20, 2021

Rupert and I spent many hours working together as co-workers on the same crews with the city Winnipeg. He and I enjoyed the harmony of each other's company. Rupert and I also did many side jobs over the years helping the citizens of Winnipeg. When time allowed us we would Be fishing or Hunting those were some of the finest times of my spare time spent with a true friend. We had a lot in common and shared hours of laughter together no matter what we were up to. In closing, Rupert will be Greatly missed But never forgotten a true friend who shared Brotherhood and a person you could always depend on and look up to. Rest in peace Brother. - Posted by: Bruce w Evans (Close Friend) on: May 18, 2021
