• I called her Tanta Maria all my life. She was my mom's closest and long time friend. She seemed to be the life of the party, good listener and laughter usually filled her lungs. I loved her laughter... it made me wish I could laugh like that. She also was great at making everything pretty around her in decorating or flower arrangements. After we left Winnipeg as a child I remember only seeing her a handful of times after that. The biggest memory was at our wedding. She kept things calm and happy and weddings can sometimes not be that way. Is it ironic that she passed on our 37th wedding anniversary? I miss her in my heart already but I will look forward to seeing her in heaven and so will many other people who knew her.
