MARY MORI
(YAEKO FUJII)
Mary was born in Hop Bay, Pender Island, British Columbia in 1925, she was a daughter of the late Heigoro and Sen Fujii. She was raised in Pitt Meadows, BC where she farmed with her parents and siblings.
In 1942, as part of the Japanese internment the family was moved to Letellier, MB where they worked on a sugar beet farm. Later she moved to Winnipeg with her sister Edna where she worked as a housekeeper for the Cowdy family, and later worked in a sewing factory.
On May 15, 1948 Mary and Robert (Kyosuke) were married. Mary looked after their four children and Robert's parents.
Mary worked part-time at Rice Sportswear Sewing Factory until she went on disability due to a thyroid condition.
Mary was a strong person, overcoming bouts of illness. She was known for her generosity, she always made sure family and friends had their favourite Japanese treats to take home, especially cookies and baking for her grandson Cam. Mary was still gardening well into her 90s.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Robert (Kyosuke) in 2004; siblings, Allan Sasaki, Edna Fujii and Katherine Phillips. She is survived by her daughters, Marlene Mori, Doreen (Doug) Wilkie and son Cameron; sons, Ken Mori and Dan Mori; siblings, Hilda Mitsubata, Sam Fujii, Steve Fujii, and many nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service will take place in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.

So sorry to hear about Aunt Mary's passing. I have very fond memories of my visit in my childhood visiting Aunt Mary and Uncle Bob. Visited a few times in my adult years, and remember her delicious cooking. One of my favourites were her pickles. She was such a kind person.
