EDWARD ADAS BRODOWSKI
Ed was born in Poplarfield, Manitoba, and farmed the land until moving to Winnipeg with the family in 1955.
Throughout the years, Ed was a man of many talents and occupations. He was a farmer, lumberjack, miner, and had a long career with CN Railway that he retired from, 31 years ago.
Ed is survived by his children, Ellen Jenkinson (Dave), Diana Brodowski (Rob), and David Brodowski (Lee), as well as grandchildren, Philip Jenkinson, (Krista), Nathan Jenkinson, (Pamela), Corbin Jenkinson (Kasia) and Dallen Brodowski. He has two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Ellie Jenkinson.
Ed was predeceased by his brother Victor, and sisters, Sadie, Ella and Pauline.
He was known to be a worthy opponent in a game of pool and his carpentry work had a skilled attention to detail that made many exceptional projects. Ed was able to fix most anything. Other pastimes included bowling. His high scores earned him the nickname of "Fast Eddie". Gardening was a passion of his, and garlic was his favourite. He loved spending all day on a bench in his backyard, enjoying his garden. Health and fitness were an important part of his life, and when he retired, he promptly set up a membership at the downtown Y to swim regularly, participated in a walking club at Kildonan Park, and danced most Saturdays with a social club. Listening to the Polka Party every Saturday night on CFRY was a highlight for Dad, right up to his last Saturday on this earth. He was a talented harmonica player and would play a medley of tunes upon request.
His travels included winter vacations in Barbados, which inspired him to wallpaper his living room wall with palm trees to get that "tropical" feel during our frigid Winnipeg winters. When his children were young, many summer trips were made by train to spend time at a cousin's cottage at Rice Lake, Ontario.
As a father and grandfather, Ed was someone to look up to, someone to admire, and someone to be proud of.
Cremation has taken place, as well as a private family gathering.
Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Salvation Army.

Just found out about your dad’s passing and wanted to send our condolences to your family. I have many fond memories of Ed. So many times I would come home from work to find a box of home grown vegetables at my side door. Then there was the time he helped to reroof our house in very hot weather. I also loved his gladiolus in the backyard along with his raspberries. We always stayed in touch by sending a card at Christmas. He was a very special person.
