DANIEL (DANNY) IBANEZ CAUSON

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel (Danny) Ibanez Causon, on June 18, 2021 at the age of 77. Known for his big heart, he couldn't fight off complications from heart failure.
Danny leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Deanna (nee Beltran); two sons, Darren (Donna) and Jon (Lenna); grandchildren, Spencer and Brianna; as well as members of his extended family and many close friends.
Dad and Mom shared many passions in life; their love of their grandchildren, golf and travel. They travelled the world far and wide, visiting friends and family from the Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Cuba, the United States and Canada.
Dad never met a golf shirt, or hat that he didn't like! This told a story of the many courses they've played; the great shots, the poor ones, but always enjoying time spent with each other, his sons, and their friends.
Dad spent his retirement being a proud and loving Lolo. His grandchildren were very precious to him. While most retirees spend their time sleeping in, Dad spent 13 years waking up at 6:30 a.m. to drive to Brianna and Spencer's house to eat breakfast with them and then drive them to school. Never missing an event that involved the kids, whether it was a game, dance recital, winter concert, if it involved the kids, he and Mom were there.
His motto for the kids was, "There was never a no, with Lolo!".
Dad was a passionate supporter of amateur sports. He loved supporting the Lancers, Bisons or provincial and national teams. Watching his sons play volleyball, basketball and tennis, and more recently, his grandchildren play soccer, water polo, and basketball. He was a fan of Winnipeg's local professional teams; you could always count on Dad wearing the colours of the Jets, Bombers and Goldeyes when he watched the games. He and Mom went to many professional golf tournaments, always appreciative of the skills they possessed in a game he loved.
Dad was always such a kind man, friendly, and always smiling. He had a positive outlook on life, and his smile and laughter were infectious. He made everyone feel comfortable and welcome. Our friends shared their memories of Dad saying: He was one of a kind, first class, proud grandpa, a real beauty, and the world has lost a great soul.
We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to the compassionate and dedicated nursing and support staff of St. Boniface Hospital's 5A South Cardiology Unit and the overflow ICU.
Many thanks to Dr. Thorleifson, Dr. Jacobson and Dr. Ghorpade for their care.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, or just throw golf balls to Heaven!

  • Danny’s son, Darren, is the PE teacher here in Sechelt, BC. After reading of Danny’s dedication to his family and children, and his passion for sports, it is clear that he left a wonderful legacy through Darren. Even from afar, Danny supported our students and enjoyed Darren’s regular updates. Our deepest sympathy to the family and thinking of you all with love and prayers. • My thoughts have been with Deanna (Mrs. Causon to me) Jon, Lenna, Spencer, Brianna, Darren, Donna plus the whole Causon + Beltran extended family since Jon shared the news with me of his dad’s surgery and unfortunate passing. Your parents have always treated me as family and I am forever grateful for their generosity, love and support. I will cherish the great memories of golf with your mom and dad. Also welcoming me to so many delicious home cooked Sunday dinners by Mrs Causon. Hope you keep it in the short grass and drain lots of one putts up there in the sky. Take care Danny. - Posted by: Darcy Lee (Friend of Jon) on: Jun 26, 2021
