(nee ELSASSER)

Mum grew up on Bannatyne Avenue in the West End of Winnipeg. She graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and married her high school sweetheart, Ken, on August 20, 1955. They bought a house on Stewart Street in the West End of St. James in Winnipeg in 1961 and lived in our family house until a few years ago, when health issues had them move into assisted living.
Mum worked in her early years at Great West Life Assurance Company and then, after having her children, also worked in the credit department at Sears Polo Park, as well as part time at Zellers and 7 Days Food.
Our Mum was an avid gardener with a great green thumb who was successful at growing most everything. Mum and Dad also enjoyed their seasonal spot for years at Gimli campground and took many trips over the years, including several to Black Hills, South Dakota. They especially enjoyed their trip to Palm Springs, California, which included a trip to Disneyland with some of their grandchildren.
Mum was also an excellent seamstress and avid baker. She made all her grandkids excellent pajamas, always ensuring they were an extra size too large for them to grow into. She made the best lemon pies, angel cookies and chocolate slice. Her cooking was extraordinary and there were great family dinners at their home in St. James every Sunday, holidays and birthdays. Those days will always be missed.
Mum was predeceased by her parents, Henry David and Anne Elsasser; as well as her sister Lois Romanow.
She is survived by her husband Ken; children, Ward (Kelly), Andy (Donna) and Christine (Ross); as well as her grandchildren, Mike (Jen), Trevor (Catherine), Krista (Curtis), Melissa (Jorden), Connor (Jenna) and Brianna (Kevin). She also has seven beautiful great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Ellie, Mia, Parker, Quinton, Eli and Jack.
We wish to thank the staff at Heritage Lodge for the kindness and care they provided our mother.
Mum, you were always there for your family and were an awesome mother and grandmother. We love you more than you can imagine and will never be forgotten. Rest in peace as you have earned it.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
