WALLY HEMMING

On Wednesday, June 30, 2021, a kind and gentle soul entered the Gates of Heaven.
Wally was born in 1938 and raised in Treherne, Manitoba.
He worked for Sears for 35 years until his retirement. Wally was passionate about our cottage at Nutimik Lake where he spent as much time as possible. He loved hunting, fishing, ski-doing and spent wonderful times at Mee Mee Lake. Flying was Wally's first love. He was a pilot for 42 years, owned his own float plane and was a member of the Aircraft Pilots and Float Plane Association.
Wally was a Mason for 42 years and Worshipful Master for three terms. He was a member of the MCAAS (Publicity). Wally restored his beautiful 1938 Model A Ford Deluxe Roadster from the frame up. "Sweet Pea", as she was lovingly called, got much attention and won many first prize awards.
Wally also loved to make his own wine and was an outstanding Award Winning Vintner. He was a stickler for process and ingredients which always ensured he produced a high quality product.
Wally was a beautiful kind-hearted person, a true gentlemen, wonderful friend and loved by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his first wife Joyce, and two sisters, Jean and Carol. Wally will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife Diane and many nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held on July 7, 2021 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home.

Honey, I love you today, tomorrow,
always and forever.

  • So sorry to read of Wally's passing, he was my boss for ten years in division #28 in Polo Park Garage. I was working on the service desk. I ran into Wally in a restaurant in Beausejour, with his new wife, at the time, they where on there way to the cottage. I had not seen him in years, so we had a wonderful visit, talking about our days working together at Sears and all the people we worked with. He was a great person to work with and for. • As I am inserting Wally's Obituary in our club newsletter I am thinking of all the visits I had with Wally through the club. He was a true gentleman to socialize and work with. Many a time I called on Wally to cover an event with his camera and he always came through. • So sorry to hear the news of Wally's passing. I got to know Wally over the years as a neighbor to my parents at the lake. I know he was a good friend and will be sorely missed. When I think of Wally, I think of his love for fishing and the memories that he created with my Father as they ventured out to catch "the big one". Rest in Peace Wally!! - Posted by: Dwayne Patchett (Friend) on: Jul 06, 2021

  • Wally and I joined ionic Lodge the same day, back in 1976. We worked our way through the chairs, a wonderful experience working with Wally. He was a kind hearted, thoughtful person. He will be missed by all. So sorry we were unable to say a last good bye. Condolences to Diane. - Posted by: Ralph Howard (Masonic Brother Beaver Ionic) on: Jul 06, 2021

  • Wally was definitely a true gentleman. He was a fantastic ping-pong player and was extremely proud of his backspin serve witch ended many a game. He was an excellent mechanic and was proud of his enginuity. His only fault was when he was telling a joke. He started you mumble a lot because he new the punch line soon and he was already laughing inside before he got to it. That's the Wally Hemming I remember. Will think of him forever. Thank you for being my friend. - Posted by: Steve Petriew (Co worker at Sears Polo Park ) on: Jul 06, 2021
