JAMESINA MAE MORRAN
(nee WHITE)
June 25, 1940 – June 29, 2021

Jimmi passed away peacefully on June 29, 2021, at Seven Oaks Hospital.
Jimmi was born in Grandview. She had a sweet personality and was kind to all. Jimmi met the love of her life, Dave, at the age of 18. They fell in love, married and set out to build a life together. Being a Hydro wife meant moving many times. They built many friendships and memories along the way.
Jimmi was a dedicated wife and mother. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. Jimmi was known for keeping an immaculate house and had a flair for baking. Rollmops and shortbread cookies could always be found hidden in the freezer. Every winter Jimmi could be found hurling rocks down the ice at the curling rink. The Ladies Bonspiel was always a favourite of hers.
Jimmi's first job was at Great West Life in Winnipeg. In Grand Rapids she worked in the Hydro staff house kitchen. She took care of the produce department at the Gillam Co-op for many years; often bringing home bags of stray grapes. Jimmi worked at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home before retiring.
Jimmi was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, David Morran in 2019.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Larry (Susan), Heather (Les) and Stuart (Shelley), six grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Jimmi is survived by her sister Jean, brother Bill and their families.
In keeping with Jimmi's wishes, no formal service will be held.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Jimmi and I were two of 4 baby girls born within one week in Grandview MB. The White family and the Barnett family spent many good times together. One time many of us travelled to a Duck Mountain lake 30 miles north of Grandview, travelling in the box of her Dad's gravel truck box! We were able to wash off the dust when we got to the lake but the road home had us dusted up again!!! Elaine Henwood Wintle and I recently shared our memories of Jimmi. Jimmi was the "cutest" of us 4, and no doubt the sweetest!!! With sympathy to Jimmi's family, Sincerely Elsie [Maggie} Barnett - Posted by: maggie barnett (birth cohort ,childhood friend) on: Jul 14, 2021

  • We were so saddened to read of Jimmi's passing. She and Dave have been dear friends for many years. From the moment she came to welcome us when we moved to Grand Rapids in 1965 we enjoyed many happy times. She was always so cheerful and generous. Our deepest sympathy to Dave and Jimmi's family. Rest well our friend - Posted by: Alf and Betty Iverson (Friends) on: Jul 13, 2021

  • So sorry to hear of Jimmi's passing. We were friends for many years. Often thought of her. Our sincere sympathy to all her family. Brian and Ila - Posted by: BRIAN A BODNER (Friend) on: Jul 12, 2021

  • Jimmi was my babysitter from birth and I believe a huge help to my mother at the time. Except my mom always said she thought I was a doll and kept changing my clothes When she had me as her flower girl I was over the moon. That was my fairytale wedding. She remained a wonderful friend to my parents Benny & Marion Chaikin, always keeping in touch and visiting them whenever she could. Jimmi was one of the most beautiful people inside and out. I will remember her sweet smile forever. Last time I spoke with her she raved about her children and grandchildren. Was so proud of you all. May she rest in peace. - Posted by: Elaine Chaikin Nelson (Friend) on: Jul 10, 2021

  • Such a sweet face and personality to match. She will be missed by families and friends but leaves fond memories. - Posted by: Betty Stire (Friend ) on: Jul 10, 2021

  • Jimmi and her family were close friends of the Barnett family in Grandview. She married a Morran cousin of ours so more connections. As Dave and Jimmi moved around the north with Manitoba Hydro we were always in touch. I am missing my weekly phone calls to Jimmi and we all will miss her very much. • Worked with Jimmy at Gillam Co-op. She was one of the nicest people, sad to hear this news. Thinking of the family in this sad time. - Posted by: Sandy Kjartanson (Friend) on: Jul 10, 2021
