November 18, 1945 - July 19, 2021

With sadness, the family announces the passing of Kathleen on July 19, 2021.
Kathleen was born in Moncton, NB, where she attended school. She moved to Vancouver in the late 60s and was hired by the CPR. She divorced from her first husband, then moved to Winnipeg in 1986 where she lived with her partner Malcolm and worked for the Federal Government in the Departments of Transport and National Defense. After retirement, Kathleen and Malcolm became snowbirds and travelled throughout the US with their 5th wheel for about five years. After this, they sold their house in Winnipeg and settled in Winterhaven, CA for the winters and at their cottage in Bird Lake, MB for the summers.
Kathleen was a dog-lover, she loved to read and she was also an avid competitor for games of any kind including the campground seniors "Olympics", Texas Hold'em, and shuffleboard to name a few. She was a social butterfly who organized events, potlucks, trips and "girl's weekends" - she lit up a room wherever she went, putting a smile on your face. She was a very caring, loving, special person who will be missed by all. She was also a member of the Lac Du Bonnet Legion Branch 164.
In November 2012, Kathleen suffered from a severe cerebral hemorrhage due to a ruptured aneurism. She spent 18 days in a neuro ICU unit at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix before being flown home to Winnipeg on her birthday. Kathleen spent several years in rehabilitation and then personal care settings as she fought her pains and stresses. The family appreciates the dedication and professionalism of the staff of the Selkirk ABI Institute and the Kildonan Personal Care Centre.
Her lively presence will never be forgotten by her life partner Malcolm, her family, as well as her many close friends. Kathleen is lovingly remembered by her sister Genevieve; her brothers, Kelly and Bill, three nieces and two nephews and their families; and her brother-in-law Larry Mate.

In the words of your beloved Rod Stewart
"May the Good Lord be with you down
every road you roam. And may sunshine
and happiness surround you when you're
far from home…. In my heart you'll always stay Forever Young". You are pain-free
now Kathleen; may you rest in peace.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, if desired donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.

"May you go with God and rest in peace."
