MATHILDE OTT
She leaves to mourn her sons, Gordon (Marsha) and Norman (Kathy), grandchildren, Noah and Ethan. She is survived by her brother Walter (Gisela) Kunkel, as well by her many relatives in Canada and Germany.
Mathilde was predeceased by her loving husband, Paul, on June 7, 2011, her sisters, Ewaldine (2021), Elsa (2000), Lydia, and brother Ernst.
Mathilde was born on December 31, 1926 to Emilie and Andreas Kunkel. She survived the many hardships and challenges of the Second World War in Germany. Thereafter, she met and married the love of her life, Paul Ott. In 1953, Paul and Mathilde immigrated to Canada and made their home in Winnipeg, where they resided all their lives and raised their two sons, Gordon and Norman.
Mathilde was a thoughtful and loving person, who always put others first. She was a faithful believer in Christ and an avid member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She took great pride in her cooking and joyously hosted special occasions for her family and friends. She enjoyed the outdoors and spent many summers blueberry picking, biking, boating and campfires with her family and friends at Rushing River and Sunnyside Camp.
A private service was recently held at Neil Bardal. She was laid to rest beside her loving husband at Brookside Cemetery. The Family would like to thank the pallbearers, Gary Guttek, Ronald Kunkel, Justin Guttek, Ryan Guttek, Noah Ott, Ethan Ott.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Donwood Manor for all their kindness and care throughout the years. We would also like to thank all the staff at Concordia Hospital for their thoughtfulness and care.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mathilde's memory to St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 65 Walnut Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3G 1N9.
