Leaving to cherish her memory, brother Glen (Brenda) Newberry; step-children, Janice (Gordon) Draho and Sherrilyn (Gary) Thompson; grandchildren, Gordon, Jamie and Evan; great-grandchildren, Heather, Cameron and Caden; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Thank you to the staff of Golden Door who cared for Verna. Special thanks to Bev Gowler and family, Pam Michalenko and Bruce Newberry.
Verna was a friend to many. Those who knew her were blessed by her friendship, loyalty and incredible generosity. She will be dearly missed.
Verna worked for CIBC for 35 plus years, she was a teller and then grew to be assistant manager. She so enjoyed travelling and Maui being one of her favourites. With special memories being made with Bev (Jim) Gowler, dear cousin and friend to Verna. Her dream came true when she travelled to Chrystal Cathedral to see their Christmas pageant with Glen and Brenda. Another place she loved was Port Orange, Florida with Jan and Gord, where she enjoyed the beaches and ocean views.
Private family graveside service (due to covid) will be held at 10:00 a.m. on September 10, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of choice in Verna's name.

I remember Verna (when it was Newberry) and we worked together learning the ropes either at Main & Lombard or Portage and Garry back in the 50's I believe. My recollection was of a very pleasant and dedicated individual who related well with fellow employees and customers alike. My condolences to her family. - Posted by: Douglas Loewen (Co CIBC'R) on: Jul 31, 2021
